It’s hard to believe we are closing the door for 2019. Lots of people have different perspectives on how this year went and personally, there were quite a few ups and downs, but I always like to reflect on the year as a whole and try not to focus too singularly on any specific peaks or valleys. Breaking down the year in numbers is a fun way to do this and I did it for the first time in 2016 (2016 In Review), continued the tradition in 2017 (2017 In Review) and then of course again in 2018 (2018 In Review).
I loved being able to reflect back on the year as a whole and remember all the amazing moments in one special place. So – I’m back again this year with our 2019 by the numbers!
2019 In Numbers
221 – Number of new blog posts on this blog! Not quite as many as last year, but I’m proud of myself for coming here, even when the ebbs of blogging hit me like a ton of bricks. I truly do love this space (and anyone who is reading!). Here are some of the top posts of the year:
Freelance Writing For Beginners
Zucchini + Sweet Potato Fritters With Goat Cheese
How To Work With Brands As A Blogger
The Argument For A Lived-In Home
2 – Trips to Africa, which has me feeling pretty darn grateful. We kicked off the year in Morocco and ended the year in Kenya.
4 – Number of gallery walls we finally hung in our home. Only took us 2 years of living here to finally make the place feel like a “home”, but better late than never right 😉
231,788 – Credit card points that we need to find a use for — all you credit card point hackers, let me know! (Total transparency — we get to pay our rent free of extra charge on our credit card and amass thousands of bonus points this way — we aren’t super spenders like that figure probably makes it seem!)
3 – Number of press trips I was able to be part of this year. A total grand slam for me professionally, since my 2019 goal was to just be invited on ONE!
1 – Number of marathons completed. Can hardly believe I tackled another Honolulu Marathon!
Things I can’t quite quantify – Time spent walking the dogs after dinner followed by light up ball in our yard, sunset picnics at our favorite pier, hours worth of airport layovers, pages read in new books and magazines, time spent scrolling news sites (this year was a doozy!), post-it notes on my desk, times I’ve re-watched our Kenya travel video, minutes FaceTiming my parents, and texts sent to all the people I love the most.
2019, you were a blessing. Here’s to 2020!
