There are a few special places on Oahu that Dane and I like to to keep for ourselves, but when people ask for a good place to go in Waikiki, we often say Island Vintage Wine Bar. It’s a new-to-us spot that is in Royal Hawaiian Center, but since we found out about it last fall, we’ve already gone several times. They have good food, good wine and a good service — a hat trick for restaurants! If you are looking for a new go-to in Honolulu or are just in town visiting, be sure to read on…
Island Vintage Wine Bar
One thing we love best about Island Vintage Wine Bar is that it’s sort of tucked away from the craziness of Waikiki. If you go to Island Vintage Coffee at Royal Hawaiian Center, it’s just around the corner! They have a long bar, normal tables and then a couple high-top tables for larger parties, as well as some couches right in the front that are great for those just getting drinks.
That said, I totally recommend grabbing a glass of wine and settling in for food, too! The prices are affordable and there are a variety of options based on how hungry you are 😉
We love the small plates menu and highly recommend the macaroni and cheese and burrata — both to share!
Dane loves the burger (it’s a huge portion!) and the beet poké is one of my very favorite meals across the entire island. It’s so freaking good and has all the delicious flavorings of fish poké, but it’s made with beets!
During happy hour (bar seating only), prices are slashed on small plate food offerings and they offer wines by the glass for $7 — a steal in Waikiki! Happy hour runs from 3-6PM daily.
I guess the secret is out on this one, but you can thank me later 😉 We really love it and I think you will, too. If you’re sticking around Royal Hawaiian Center, be sure to check out free lei making and free hula lessons!
