TGIF! This week seemed to never end and at this point in this roller coaster year, I find myself forgetting what day it is, or mixing up dates altogether. How very 2020 of me, right? Oahu very loosely opened up their restrictions yesterday, so I’m relishing in the fact that I’ll be able to sit on a beach this weekend with Dane and I’m elated for the small businesses who are (finally!) seeing the light, even if it might be faint.
5 Things I Love Friday
We are finally getting to the stage of “Hawaii fall” where we have a pretty steady breeze each day and the dogs are soaking up every bit of it. I think half my day is spent trying to coax them inside!
Looking for a fall cocktail to try? My latest for AllRecipes features delicious cocktails to sip this season!
I have loved Humans of New York for so many years (and own the books!). Each day, seeing a story pop up is a social media highlight, so imagine my excitement when I saw that Tanqueray’s story was being featured in a 32-part in-depth series. It’s safe to say her heartbreaking, at times funny, and fascinating story is the epitome of why I love HONY.
We’ve been in a little bit of a recipe rut coming off summer and into fall. TBH – there is no *true* difference here in Hawaii, we are very lucky to get delicious produce year round. In any case, I was determined to pull myself out of this feeling of pure kitchen chaos and put Vegan Buffalo Cauliflower Wraps on our dinner menu. They were delicious + Dane went back for a second! A dinner winner, to be sure.
And speaking of food, everyone here knows I’m a bit of a candy connoisseur. If you don’t, now you do. I’ll try just about any candy I can get my hands on. If you haven’t yet tried Albanese gummies, you are missing out. My cousins introduced me to the brand when they sent me a case this summer. Yes, they know me well – a case of gummy candy at my doorstep is practically a love letter. Trust me when I tell you that I’ve eaten a lot of sour gummy candy in my life and their sour bears are some of the best I’ve ever had. Why? Because they don’t stop being sour once the outer sugar dissolves. Just trust me and get yourself some!
It bears repeating that I am just so darn grateful I can head outside the house this weekend and park my butt in the sand. It’s the little things, right? Cheers, everyone!
