Looking to gift someone you love a new book to read? I’m sharing the best books to gift for book lovers!
If you’ve been around here for awhile, you know that I love a good book. This year, I’ve really leaned into reading and books as my escape. I’m fortunate to be surrounded by quite a few book lovers in my lift who have also gifted me books this year (and in previous years!) that they know I’ll love!

Best Books To Give As Gifts
With the season of gift giving nearly here (gulp – when did that happen?!), I figured I would share some of my favorite books to give and some of the best books I’ve received.
I Miss You When I Blink – This was gifted to me by my friend Casey and it was my favorite book of 2020. A collection of witty essays written by a relatable Type A workaholic, this book dives into the conflicting pressures of modern adulthood and leaves the reader wanting more. I loved this one and promptly gifted it to both my mom and friend Julie.
HUMANS – Any Humans of New York lovers need Brandon’s latest book. This was another gift to me from Casey, because she knows I’m a huge HONY-lover. I have his first two books and I can honestly say this one is my absolute favorite. It will make you laugh, cry, and think (sometimes all within one story) and is the perfect gift for nearly anyone.
The Bucket List – Where are all my travel lovers? 2020 might be keeping us closer to home these days, but when we can freely roam again, this book has you prepared with where to go. I love gifting this book, because I will typically go through it and mark (with post-its) my favorite locations or memories I have in places before sending it off. It helps the photography is beautiful!
Be Our Guest – For the child in your life from my very favorite photography, Gray Malin — Welcome to the Parker Palm Springs, where you’ll experience a delightful time away, filled with everything you’d expect from a sunny, California vacation. There’s tennis courts and a lemonade stand, a gorgeous pool, and a lawn for croquet. But, the other guests and staff are more than a little unexpected 😉
Best Gifts For Book Lovers
Eat What You Want – Anyone who knows me knows the love affair I have with Gaby from What’s Gaby Cooking, so included her latest cookbook (a delight!!) is a no-brainer. Her recipes are full of flavor and push me to step outside my cooking “safe zone” with dashes of international flavors using simple ingredients.
Peanut Butter Dogs – My cousins gave me this book years ago and it’s still one of my favorites. The photography is excellent and all the dogs featured are rescues!
I Really Needed This Today – Who isn’t interested in daily quotes and affirmations? Written by NBC’s Hoda Kotb, who began posting quotes on her Instagram, this book is a feel-good, make-you-think winner and great for BFFs, moms, or heck – yourself.
The Nightingale – My absolute favorite book of all time…and I feel like that is saying a lot! This is the ideal book to give for people who love history, or appreciate a very well-written book. I was captivated from beginning to end and cried when it was over!
Book Gift Ideas
The Little Book of Hygge – Another book that was gifted to me by my friend Sarah + it’s such a good reminder of “the good stuff”. Hygge is the sensation you get when you’re cuddled up on a sofa, in cozy socks under a soft throw, during a storm. It’s that feeling when you’re sharing comfort food and easy conversation with loved ones at a candlelit table. It is the warmth of morning light shining just right on a crisp blue-sky day. This book dives into those feelings in an easy-to-digest book.
Why I’m Grateful For You – Simply fill in the blanks of this pocket-sized book and voilà: it becomes a personalized gift that someone you’re thankful for can read again and again. Make it as appreciative, affirming, or adorable as you please. Great for partners or BFFs and the personalization makes it the perfect gift.
If you like giving/receiving books, which are your favorites? And if you liked this post, you might also enjoy all the posts I’ve written on books over the years.
