If you didn’t notice this post is coming to you super early this week, but I didn’t want to break tradition with my weekly love list, nor miss an opportunity to truly be grateful for some things during this week of thanks. I also know people are checking out for the week here shortly, so let’s just hop right into it…5 Things I Love Friday, on a Wednesday 😉
5 Things I Love Friday
Last weekend, I finally got to see my Hawaii centerfold in real life when I walked into our local Barnes & Noble. It was truly surreal to see my photography in a tangible magazine….squeal!
Have you heard of Zero Fuss Haircare? They’re a no-heat-required line of hair products and frankly, anything that alleviates the need for me to use a hot tool here in Hawaii..I AM THERE! I think I’m most excited for the texturizing dry shampoo (my beloved Living Proof remains my go-to for everyday use though, don’t be alarmed!) and the sea salt spray. Stay tuned!
If you’ve been around for awhile, you know my love for Kristin Hannah’s “The Nightingale” (Best Books To Read If You Loved The Nightingale) runs VERY deep! This week I finished “Home Front” and I can honestly say I was captivated from beginning to end. It’s an absolute must-read if you’re a military spouse, or if you’re curious about the military lifestyle told from the perspective of a female soldier. I loved it!

I’d be lying if I didn’t admit how much the reality of not seeing my family in nearly a year and a half is setting in, which I think is compounded by the fact that the holidays are upon us. I have a mix of military and state restrictions, coupled with personal responsibility for public health, to thank for this, but it doesn’t make it any easier. Every year, Facebook reminds me of this photo of my grandpa, who absolutely loved Thanksgiving and seeing his entire family wrapped around one table. He’s been gone for 15 years (!) and it’s been a long time since my entire family was in one room, but whenever I see it, I’m reminded of how much I have to be thankful for, even when it feels like the world is on fire. He would, no doubt, be annoyed none of his family was gathering this year, but I would bet he’d think Zoom is pretty cool.
