Oahu Sunset: Electric Beach

Around the World, Hawaii, Oahu, Travel · November 2, 2020 · Leave a Comment

Craving a tropical vacation? Here is a collection of Hawaiian sunset photos to enjoy from Electric Beach on Oahu!

Okay, if you haven’t gathered by now, we are huge fans of watching the sunset in this house. It’s a perk of living in Hawaii that on any given day, you’ll get a gorgeous Hawaiian sunset no matter where you are on the island.

Of course, the sunsets on the west side of Oahu are the best, because you can see the sun sink below the horizon. One of the best spots to watch this happen is at Electric Beach, on the leeward coast.

Electric Beach

Electric Beach is named for the electrical power plant located nearby. It shoots out very warm water just offshore and it’s a spot where you are almost guaranteed to see turtles while snorkeling. My friend Jenny and I came out to this spot just a few weeks after these photos were taken one morning at sunrise and people said they saw lots of turtles and even a shark.

If you’re traveling on Oahu and looking for this spot, head past Ko Olina Resort. You’ll come up to a small parking lot (it’s usually pretty packed), so park there and walk down to the beach. You absolutely won’t regret it!

This beach is a beautiful spot to visit, but if you do encounter wildlife, please be mindful and keep your distance. Don’t try to touch the curious turtles and never, ever disturb them on the beach. Hawaiian turtles are protected by state and federal laws, so enjoy them from afar!

In the meantime, enjoy this beautiful Oahu sunset 🙂
