Curious about Good & Gather from Target? Today I’m sharing a full review of Good and Gather products!
If you have shopped at Target recently, you may have noticed a newer brand sitting on the shelf – Good and Gather. Frankly, when I saw the marketing, I was really excited. It’s so well done! But it was after I tasted the Pumpkin Spice Coffee that I knew I wanted to do a deep dive on the brand. I originally wrote this post in 2020 and still fully agree with my assessment and have included an update at the bottom. If you’re curious about Target’s private label food brand, today’s post is for you 🙂
Target’s Good And Gather Brand – A Full Review
Good & Gather is Target’s largest owned brand of food items with a slogan that says, “Making it easy to eat well every day.” I figured I would be the judge of that 😉 But on a more serious note, I was eager to try products that tasted just as good (if not better) than other brands at a more palatable price.
What Is Good & Gather?
Good & Gather is Target’s own brand. Think Kirkland for Costco or Great Value for Walmart. They have all sorts of food products from shelf stable to ready-to-eat.
Good & Gather Freeze Dried Strawberries – These are the most-reviewed item of all the Good & Gather brand items, so picking up a bag seemed like a no-brainer. I will admit, I was sort of expecting them to taste like free-dried ice cream or gummy snacks. They taste like neither, but are still good on top of yogurt or acai bowls. Are they my favorite item of the brand? No. But I imagine kids would really like them for a snack!
Good & Gather Wild Berry Fruit Twists + Good & Gather Strawberry Fruit Strips – Okay, these are where Good & Gather got me hook-line-and-sinker. WOW – love them so much! They are full of fruit flavor and definitely fit the bill as a quality gummy snack. If I had to pick a favorite, the twists are it. YUM!
Target Good and Gather
Good & Gather Green Goddess Dressing – LOVED THIS! In fact, it really reminds me of the beloved green goddess dressing from Trader Joe’s that is just a pipe dream for those of us living in Hawaii. This version is full of flavor AND affordable. We love it on salad and as shrimp marinade. Definitely worth a try!
Good & Gather Pad Thai Sauce – This might be my favorite product in the whole line and I’ll tell you why…it’s the closest thing you’re going to get to Pad Thai sauce without whipping it together yourself. I was really hesitant that it would be too sweet or too salty, but trust me when I tell you it tasted EXACTLY like what we made in Thai culinary school. Super impressed!
Good & Gather Target
Good & Gather French Onion Gruyère Dip – I thought this was delicious, but it was a hard pass for Dane. It doesn’t taste like regular French Onion dip despite what the reviews tell you, but I liked that part about it. It would be ideal for dipping chips or pretzels or even in a bougie grilled cheese. I dipped carrots and pepper slices and thought it tasted great!
Good & Gather Jalapeño & Cheddar Cheese Smoked Chicken Sausage – I bought these for Dane to try since he usually loves the chicken sausages from Costco and he said they were “pretty good”. I know this is Dane’s way of appeasing me and he voted that he wouldn’t buy them again.
Good & Gather
Good & Gather Toasted Coconut Chips – If you love Trader Joe’s toasted coconut chips or the more expensive ‘bare’ brand – you will love these. They’re especially good on top of acai bowls and come in chocolate and coconut flavors for making trail mix or just eating right out of the bag 😉
Good & Gather Coffee – I really, really love the flavored varietals of this coffee (we tried Pumpkin Spice), but I’ll admit – we are spoiled by Hawaiian coffee and this didn’t seem to be as strong. That said, I did mix the grounds half and half one morning and that was delicious! Give it a try if you love flavored blends.
And there you have it! Overall, I think this product line is great and provides affordable options from popular name-brand products, as well as new and exciting only-from-Target type stuff. If you’ve tried it, I’d love to know your thoughts.
Since this brand launched in 2020 (and since this was originally written), I’ve integrated more Good & Gather products into my cabinets and refrigerator. I think it’s a reliable brand that has a wide range of offerings and is a safe bet for snacks and shelf-stable items. Like anything else, sometimes the store brand isn’t as good (coffee is where Good and Gather misses the mark for me), but overall I give it a win after three years!
