Happy Friday, everyone! This week sort of flew by for me, but that’s partly because I was off on Tuesday to celebrate my 32nd birthday. It was a low key day filled with birthday love from near and far. I’ve always been one to “go big” for birthdays, but this year’s quiet celebration was perfect, and I’m holding on to that joy for as long as I can! Here’s this week’s birthday-inspired edition of 5 Things I Love Friday….
5 Things I Love Friday
In an ode to two of my favorite things – 80s music and neon – Dane decorated our entire downstairs on the day of my birthday for our party-of-two celebration. Considering I love any reason to dress up, we donned our favorite brightly colored spandex for a quick family photo before diving into some Mexican food and cupcakes and watching the first Sex and The City movie.
If Dane’s style of gift giving had to be put in a single category it would be thoughtful. He’s the type of person to remember that you tagged him in a Facebook ad for something you loved 6 years ago. Such is the case with all of my presents this year…
For starters, he gifted me a Peloton, which WOW. That’s really all I can say. I was shocked. I have gone on and on about wanting a Peloton for the better part of two years, but the extra freight costs left much to be desired. He decided to bite the bullet and surprise me since it’s something we both plan on using. It won’t arrive for a couple months, but I’m already dreaming about morning rides…!
My other gifts included custom safari animal stationery from Paper Source (so cute!) and artwork by an artist I love, Ben Lenovitz. The stationery seems like an obvious choice to gift your wife who is a writer, but I tagged him in this specific design about 6 months ago and he’s been holding on to it ever since!
The artwork of Judy + Bill is another story. In 2016, we visited NYC for our anniversary. One of the highlights was a store called Fishs Eddy, which is a quirky little store worth checking out if you ever make it there. In any case, Ben’s artwork was on display of various animals and I loved the colors and whimsical nature. We were in a rush and left, but I’ve always remembered his work. Imagine how surprised I was to get my very own almost 5 years later! It’s such a treat and I can’t wait to decide where to hang it.
Favorite gifts from family and friends included new neon green Birkenstocks, REPLICA Beach Walk perfume, LeTush Bum Mask, and a light-up running vest. It’s safe to say my people know me well and I felt so very, very loved.
