TGIF! We’ve arrived at the last Friday in January and I’m just like…how did that happen? This week, like most others lately, was busy for me and I’m already counting down to my 5PM cocktail…Let’s dive right into this week’s edition of 5 Things I Love Friday…
5 Things I Love Friday
I think what’s probably the most exciting part of my week is that…my 90 year-old grandma got her first dose of the vaccine! When I got the official word from my mom and aunt, I had tears in my eyes. I miss her (and the rest of my family so much) and this feels like light at the end of the tunnel in finally being able to see them again sometime soon.
For my birthday, my parents gifted me something that speaks directly to my heart – a shower cap. BUT! Not just any shower cap, one that actually works and doesn’t let water inside. The brand is SHHHHOWERCAP and the prints are even more whimsical than the name.
They’re completely machine washable and latex free. The best part is that the cap actually fits my head, so when I’m using it between washes (which is every week), my hair never gets wet. It is also humidity resistant which is HUGE in Hawaii when every wet item turns mildewy in 50 seconds flat. I have the The Fetti print + it’s so fun! If you’re interested, you can take $5 OFF your first order on me!
My mom found me a copy of What’s Gaby Cooking’s magazine – REJOICE!
I have long loved the face-style planters for small house plants, but I’ve been holding off in getting one. I have found several I love and by the time I go to purchase, they’ve sold out. So – as soon as I saw these stoneware face planters, I knew I was going to capitalize!
I got the 6″ in brown and the 8″ in white, because that’s what my store had stocked. The quality is great and they’re the perfect size for house plants. I plan on getting some aloe and an air plant to put in their “heads”, but admittedly, they also look super cute without a plant. If you’re interested, snag them quick, because our store was almost sold out and they are selling out online, too!
My sister shared the story with me of her friend Isaiah, a New York-based comedian, who was at a small show to see a friend perform following all COVID-approved guidelines for safety. After the show, Isaiah was brutally attacked (held down and beaten repeatedly), sending him to the hospital with severe physical and emotional injuries. While he’s slowly recovering and asking for thoughts of love and healing, a GoFundMe for Isaiah has also been set up if you are of the giving nature.
