Hawaii Photos: The Kahala

In need of a tropical escape? Sharing a photo diary of the Kahala Resort and surrounding beaches on Oahu, Hawaii!

Are you guys sick of my Hawaii beach photo diaries yet? I hope not, because taking and editing photos might be the only thing keeping me sane and these stunning photos of Kahala here in Hawaii are carrying me through this first part of 2021. 

Kahala Hawaii

This specific neighborhood of Oahu (Waialae-Kahala) might just be one of the most beautiful on the island. It’s a mix of old and new homes, oceanfront views, and the renowned Kahala Resort property. I would be remiss in not mentioning it’s also the epitome of wealth and luxury on Oahu and the average home cost sits around $3 million.

This area of Oahu also offers close proximity to the Kahala Mall, Whole Foods, Foodland Market, and a handful of tasty restaurants, as well as chains like Starbuck’s and McDonalds. Something for everyone 😉 

Kahala Resort

Of course, most people recognize the name thanks to the Kahala Hotel + Resort, which is a sprawling luxury property that has been a mainstay on Oahu since 1964. It’s a celebrity favorite — the likes of John Wayne and Frank Sinatra have been known to frequent the hotel — and every U.S. President from Lydon B. Johnson to George W. Bush has stayed here. I’m pretty sure Barack Obama has visited the property, but he stays at his own house when he’s on Oahu 🙂 

Two man-made peninsulas were created at each end of the resort beach, to prevent tidal action from washing away sand. The result is an amazingly calm stretch of sand and water that is great to watch the sunrise, which is when these photos were taken.
