We survived the first week of February! This week was a blur, honestly. Between work and Hawaii’s cold weather spurt, I spent most of my time hunkered in the house. No complaints here, but I am hoping this rain gets out of here in time for the weekend! In any case, buckle in for this week’s round-up which includes an adorable daddy-daughter duo, a delightful Netflix movie, a cozy set that makes me feel pulled together and more…
5 Things I Love Friday
It’s been a long while since I’ve read a book that really just stuck with me and If You Tell by Gregg Olsen is my most recent can’t-get-it-off-my-brain book. It’s probably one of the most disturbing books I’ve ever read, but I absolutely could not put it down. It’s based on a true story and I would highly recommend it. Trigger warning: child abuse.
Have you watched Finding Ohana on Netflix yet? It’s a movie about the importance of family and it’s based here in Hawaii. The best part is that it uses Hawaiian actors and is respectful of Hawaiian culture and history. It’s a total feel-good movie that Dane and I enjoyed, because it was filmed here on Oahu, but I truly think anyone would find heartwarming!
All of my friends in the Northeast will laugh at me, but the temperatures on Oahu dipped into the 50s this week and I was COLD. Nay….freezing. I bundled up in long pants, a long sleeved shirt, and a hooded sweatshirt with socks. Now, ten years ago I would have laughed. It’s safe to say my body has acclimated to the tropics!
I have been living in this two-piece set ever since it arrived to my house. I love it because it’s comfortable enough to be firmly in the “at home clothes” category, but the matching set makes me feel pulled together during the week when I walk to my office down the hall. It’s cotton, so it’s not sweaty, and there are no itchy tags! The fit is oversized which makes it extra cozy (I’m wearing a small), and the top is longer in the back and looks equally cute front tucked into a pair of jeans. Can you tell I’m obsessed?
We are finally getting to the last season of Schitt’s Creek! I know, this is about a year behind everyone else, but I was firmly in the “I don’t think that show is that funny” camp. Well, once we got past episode 3? 4? – we got into it! I’m so sad the series will soon be over for us. No spoilers, please!
