Dreaming of a tropical beach day? Let this collection of photos from Waimanalo Beach carry you away!
Okay, I know I say this all the time, but this photo diary might be my favorite yet….eek! The colors are just so beautiful and capture all that I love about Hawaii….turquoise ocean, white sandy beach, and lots of colorful sunbathers dotting the sand. Bird’s eye view is the best Hawaii view!
Today’s Hawaii photos are from Waimanalo Beach and I hope you love them as much as I do! This beach spot is one of our favorites, even though it’s not terribly close to our house. It’s worth the drive, I promise!
Waimanalo Beach
Where is Waimanalo Beach?
Waimanalo is located on the eastern part of Oahu. It is best known for its beautiful white sand beaches (umm hello…softest sand you’ll ever touch!), turquoise water, and quintessential “beach computer screensaver” views.
There are a few hole-in-the-wall style restaurants in this sleepy beachside town and it’s home to many windward Oahu residents. There are no hotels in Waimanalo and beach access points are plentiful, which is really nice.
Waimanalo Weather
The tricky part about Waimanalo is that the weather can be a crapshoot. Honestly, it seems like there are more cloudy days than sunny days, but usually it’s a good mix of both.
Even the cloudy days in Hawaii are gorgeous, so don’t let a grey sky stop you from heading out and be sure to slather on reef safe sunscreen regardless. The sun here is brutal and the worst burns happen on cloudy days. You’ll see from my photos that this was a pretty overcast day, but looks at that water…gorgeous!
Waimanalo Hawaii
If you venture to Waimanalo, be sure to grab food at Kalapawai Cafe or Ai Love Nalo – both are delicious. You cannot go wrong spending a day at this award-winning beach. There’s a reason some rank it the prettiest on Oahu!
