Considering a Jenn Sherman Peloton ride? Today I’m sharing all the details on why you should take a spin class with Peloton’s first instructor.
When people hear that you have or are getting a Peloton, the first thing they’re going to do is rave about Kendall and Cody classes. I admit, they were the forerunners in my “Favorites” – their energy is undeniable and I still take their classes. As time went on, though, my favorites shifted around a bit. Today I’m sharing why Peloton instructor Jenn Sherman is my favorite…and why taking a class with her is a must.
Why Jenn Sherman Is My Favorite Peloton Instructor
There’s something funny that happens when you get a Peloton bike. You join this community of people who are all obsessed with their spin bike. I know this, because I am one of them. I used to be the person that thought ‘Wow, these Peloton people are weird’ and now I am one of them. Fully guilty.
Swapping instructors you love, classes you’ve taken that make you feel good, and specific stacks (workouts taken in succession) is all part of it.
4 Reasons To Take A Jenn Sherman Peloton Class
Let me first say that I really love all the Peloton instructors. These fitness professionals were hired for a reason – they’re motivational, they’re great at what they do (their workouts will kick your butt), and energy levels are insane (truly, take a class with Olivia Amato if you don’t believe me). Every single Peloton ride is well-planned and every instructor will give you a serious sweat.
But it’s natural to pick favorites or instructors you gravitate toward and for me, it’s Peloton’s OG instructor Jenn Sherman.
Her classes are all music I like and know.
For me, music is half the battle of any Peloton ride. I have to know it and like it to really get into it. Jenn’s playlists are a lot of 70s, 80s, and 90s, with a bit of 2000s. I’ll be the first to admit my taste in music is more in line with my mom’s than someone my age, but in this case, it totally works! Some people say she sings too much, but frankly I don’t even notice it. Probably because I, myself, am singing. It also means I can ride alongside my own mom who enjoys the playlists.
Jenn’s sing along 60 minute classes are what inspired me to be brave enough to do a 60-minute ride for the first time! I’ve been hooked ever since 🙂
She has a ‘get it done’ attitude.
I don’t know if this is because she’s a little bit older than I am, or if it’s because she is Peloton’s original instructor, or what honestly…but when Jenn gets on the bike, she doesn’t have anything to prove. She’s there to kick our ass and be done. No fluff.
There isn’t dancing or costumes and I appreciate that. In fact, for her holiday sing along ride, she said “I wore red lipstick, that counts right?” Right.
I always PR with her.
Going off the above, I think I PR with Jenn, because she kicks your ass under the guise of pushing yourself harder. It was also in her class that I finished first on the leaderboard for the first time ever! She is confident and commands a class in a way that is really special.
Like me, she’s from the Northeast.
Jenn is from New Jersey and it makes her a little extra spicy. There is something special about people in the Northeast who aren’t afraid to throw in a thoughtfully placed f*ck mid-ride. I enjoy it, but I know many people do not appreciate curse words and/or ride with their kids nearby, so keep this in mind.
Jenn’s no-BS approach, the fact that she pushes me to my limit every time, and her playlists are all amazing, but I truly love that she is one of the instructors who truly believes in the Peloton community. During her classes, she always does shoutouts and it’s not always people who are celebrating a milestone (100 rides, birthdays, etc.), which would be easiest for her. She makes an effort to call out groups riding together, people who take her classes over and over that she recognizes, etc.
Okay, now that I’ve dished on my favorite instructor, tell me about yours! Is there a specific ride they do that you love? It’s worth noting Jenn nor Peloton has no idea who I am, but also, HI HELLO I LOVE YOU if by some stroke of imagination you are reading this.
