I have gone back and forth so many times on how to write this post, but I feel like a “rip the Bandaid” approach is most appropriate and since it’s almost the start of a new year, it seems only fair I share the start of our new beginning.
As of this month, we are living in Washington, DC for 12 months.

I know what you’re thinking and it feels just as crazy to me to type it out. While Dane and I both grew up on the mainland, Hawaii has definitely become our home over the last decade. Like any other location, we have had our ups and downs (just being honest!), but the magic has not been lost on us. It’s such a special place.
After nearly 10 years in Hawaii, heading back to the East coast was quite a change, but one we had thought a lot about and one that puts us temporarily closer to the people we love. We chose the short move (and all the craziness it has involved) for both personal and professional reasons and have already started plotting how we will spend our time adventuring around the continental U.S. before heading back to the Islands at the end of the year.
I’m excited to document our time here and this special period of our lives, and I hope you will stick around through this season. Don’t worry, I have plenty of tropical content on deck so if you are here solely for the Hawaii photos, I have you covered 😉
Happy 2022, everyone! The best is yet to come.
