Happy September! Where has the year gone? Admittedly, I’m ready to see crisp temperatures. Fall is the season I was most excited to enjoy when we knew we were moving back to the east coast for a year and now it’s almost here! Also, D.C. feels like a swamp in the summer, so I will not be sad to see that in the rearview mirror. BYE NOW! Let’s get into my favorites of the week, shall we?
5 Things I Love Friday
For our anniversary, my parents gifted us the most adorable homemade colander from a local potter in central PA. Her name is Pam Cummings and I’m a huge fan of her work. We have a mixing bowl and a coffee pour over from her. The quality is excellent and I’m so excited to add this piece to our collection.
With our pack out coming up, I got a hot tip from a friend that I wanted to share. When we got to DC, our kitchen items were an absolute wreck. We’re talking wine glasses in with the silverware type of mess. It’s hard to pack an entire house, so I’m not faulting the movers. But I bought some plastic tubs at Target that I hope will help me “prep” a little bit so unpacking on the back end of this move is a little less stressful. I’m going to put specific drawers of things in the totes (i.e. my silverware drawer, measuring cups, etc) , so hopefully it’s a bit less chaotic. We will see!
One of the things I’m going to miss the most about living in DC is the ease of things like grocery delivery. Who knew it could be such a treat? I’ll also miss strolling the aisles of Trader Joe’s! In any case, I’ve taken to placing my InstaCart orders at night before bed and having the groceries first thing in the AM. It works great and sometimes there is even a discount involved for scheduling ahead.
Have you heard of Geometry towels? My aunt gave me one for 4th of July and then my mom gifted me another one and I have a confession…I might get rid of every other towel kitchen towel I own. These towels are amazing! Super absorbent and come in a variety of fun prints and patterns.
Someone recommended this book to me a couple weeks ago and I’m excited to dive in. Has anyone read it? What did you think?
