Hotels Near The Honolulu Airport

Hawaii, Oahu, Travel · January 4, 2023 · Leave a Comment

Visiting Oahu and curious about hotels near Honolulu Airport? Today’s post is all about where to stay in and around Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.

One of the number one questions people ask me when they are planning their trip to Honolulu is in regard to hotels. Specifically – where should we stay when we visit Oahu? Are there hotels near the airport? It’s usually followed up with a question about transportation, and if I recommend renting a car. I do, for the record. In any case, if you’re planning a trip to Honolulu, Hawaii and wondering about airport hotels, today’s post is for you.

Top Hotels Near Honolulu Airport

If you’re looking for an airport that is attached to the hotel, as in a true “airport hotel” experience, I have sad news for you: that does not exist in Honolulu. But before you get super disappointed, hear me out.

There are two hotels that are very near to the airport (less than a mile away for each). Airport Honolulu Hotel and Best Western The Plaza Hotel are both adjacent to the Honolulu Airport.

I have never stayed at either one, nor has anyone I know and here’s why: It’s very easy to get into Waikiki. Now, if you absolutely must stay this.close to the airport, I’m sure both of those hotels are great options. They are undoubtedly the closest locations.

That said, transportation to and from the Honolulu Airport is readily available by cab, car service or commuter services like Uber. The ride into Waikiki is approximately 20-25 minutes from the airport without traffic and gives visitors the opportunity to see a bit more of Honolulu outside the airport region. We frequently used Charley’s Taxi and Honolulu Taxi to schedule car rides to/from the airport to avoid paying to park our car.

For an affordable night’s stay, consider the White Sands Hotel, Aqua Palms Waikiki or Queen Kapiolani. If you want to splurge, I recommend something right on Waikiki Beach. There’s truly something special about seeing the sunrise over Diamond Head. For this, I’d vote for Sheraton Waikiki, The Royal Hawaiian or Moana Surfrider.
