It’s almost summer, which means it’s time for ice cream for dogs! This easy dog ice cream recipe includes just a few simple ingredients and will quickly become a favorite!
My mom always has the best ideas, but when she proposed that I make my own ice cream cups for the dogs…it just seemed like a lot of work honestly. But then she came to visit and showed me how easy it was to make ice cream for dogs that now it’s only right I pass the recipe on to you. The best part of this simple dog ice cream recipe is that it only requires three ingredients!
Ice Cream For Dogs Recipe
The first thing you will need is the cups you’re going to put the ice cream in. Depending on where you live, this may be the hardest part. There is a Restaurant Store nearby for us that stocks them and my mom gets them at Christmas Tree Shops, but if both of those fail…Amazon has plastic cups with lids. They also have a reusable set if you plan to make these on a regular basis.
Once you have your cups, it’s time for a trip to the grocery store for plain Greek yogurt, peanut butter and bananas. Yes, that is it! And for what it’s worth, I tried the mixture before giving it to my own dogs and it’s not bad.
To make these easy pup cups, you will need:
4 bananas
48oz plain Greek yogurt (For what it’s worth, this is the size they sell at Costco and it’s cheap!)
About 1 cup peanut butter (make sure there is no xylitol in it!)
Optional: dog treat toppers
1. Put all the ingredients in your blender and blend on high. I used the purify setting on my Vitamix on high and it worked great!
2. Pour the mixture into the plastic cups. Optional: Add in a little dog treat!
3. Secure the lids and freeze for at least 6 hours.
This recipe makes about 18 ice cream cups, depending on how much you pour into each cup. I tend to fill them nearly to the top. Judy and Bill give this recipe two paws up, for sure, and it’s nice to be able to always have a frozen treat on hand for them to enjoy.
