My Honest Review Of UpWest Clothing

Everything you need to know about UpWest clothing, including sizing, types of apparel, quality and sustainability practices. 

During summer 2022, I was walking through Georgetown and I passed a store I’d never seen before called UpWest. From the outside, it seemed like a cross between Patagonia and Free People with a little bit of GAP mixed in. I browsed for a bit, before ultimately deciding to try on a pair of jeans. I had just gone through my fourth miscarriage and basically nothing in my closet fit. The rest, as they say is history, and I’ve been an UpWest fan ever since. Today I’m sharing my honest review of UpWest jeans, UpWest clothing and Dane’s thoughts on UpWest styles for men.

2025 update: Sadly, this brand has gone out of business. It was a heartbreaking discovery for me the day I tried to go into the store in Georgetown and realized they were shutting their doors for good. I hope one day they are able to come back!

My Honest Review Of UpWest Clothing

UpWest was founded on the principles of adventure, positivity, and self-discovery and was established with a mission to create clothing that fosters well-being and comfort. If you happen to walk into any of their stores, you will get that vibe right away. Every piece of clothing I’ve ever purchased from the brand is so dang soft and well made. I want to live in it! Dane agrees – he is a big fan of their jeans and pants.

Types of Clothing At UpWest

UpWest offers a diverse collection of clothing for men and women designed to cater to various lifestyles and preferences. Whether you’re a fan of laid-back casual wear or in search of versatile pieces that transition seamlessly from day to night, UpWest has you covered. Some of the items I like most include: comfortable loungewear, denim and casual apparel. There is also an activewear line, but admittedly, we’ve never tried it!

UpWest Sizing

The one part of UpWest that I think is different from a lot of other companies is their sizing, particular many of their jeans. They do sizing XS – XL in denim, which initially threw me for a loop and to be honest, it’s not super consistent and very item specific in my experience. For example, I’m a size XS in the wide leg jeans, but a size small in the slim denim. If you’re ordering online, the size chart for each item is helpful! Keep in mind that most of UpWest’s jeans have stretch in them unless otherwise noted. I’m a huge fan of this (it’s why they are so soft), but others may not be. For reference, I wear a size 2 (25/26) in jeans in normal sizing.

Despite using high-quality materials and emphasizing ethical production practices, UpWest manages to keep its prices reasonable. This commitment allows consumers to invest in durable and stylish clothing without breaking the bank. Jeans average in price from $88 – $120, which feels on-par with other popular brands. Plus, the store is constantly having sales.

Is UpWest Good Quality?

Yes! I have had a couple pieces (jeans and a top) for more than a year now that have been washed numerous times. There is no pilling on the shirt and the jeans look as good as the day I bought them. In my experience, the clothes are great quality, but if you aren’t satisfied you have up to 60 days to return or exchange items. 

Is UpWest A Real Company?

Yes! It’s real and it’s great. Admittedly, I had never heard of it before walking into the Georgetown store, and I always have my doubts when I see people raving over a brand that I’ve never even heard of before, but it’s real. In fact, it’s owned by Express.

What Is The Best Thing To Buy At UpWest?

Dane and I both agree on this – jeans and sweaters. Hands down, no questions asked. When I made the jeans recommendation on Instagram, I had a few people order a pair and also raved about how soft they are. One thing worth noting is that I have shorter legs and I do notice that some of the jean styles are a bit too long, so pay attention to the measurements online. If you love them, it may be worth getting them hemmed.
