Our Experience At K9 Aquatic Center In Potomac, Maryland

Pets · July 22, 2024 · Leave a Comment

Looking for a place where your dog can enjoy a swim in a safe and clean environment? Consider K9 Aquatic Center in Potomac, Maryland!

When we moved from Hawaii to DC/NoVa, the one thing I could tell the dogs really missed is being able to swim regularly. Not only is swimming great exercise for dogs, being able to do so through the winter months helps keep our older dog who has arthritis in really good shape. Our vet told us about K9 Aquatic Center, an indoor pool facility designed specifically for dogs. If you’re looking for a top-notch swimming facility for your dog, the K9 Aquatic Center in Potomac, Maryland, is a great choice. Today I’m sharing our experience using their pools for our older Lab (10) and puppy (8 months).

Our Experience At K9 Aquatic Center In Potomac, Maryland

The K9 Aquatic Center in Potomac, Maryland, offers a clean, well-maintained facility with a heated pool, a variety of toys, and flexible scheduling. The one-dog-at-a-time policy ensures a calm and personalized experience for your pet. If you’re looking for a great place for your dog to swim, this is definitely worth checking out. Each session is $60 for 30 minutes and I think it’s worth every penny.

Cleanliness

The first thing I noticed about the K9 Aquatic Center is how clean it is. The lobby and pool area are all well-maintained. You can tell the staff takes pride in keeping the facility clean and free of any stink or hair, which is reassuring for any pet owner.

Safety

Each swim session comes with a dedicated “swim instructor” who stays int he pool with your dog and helps to direct them in and out, as well as ease of use of the ramp. The instructors also fit your dog with a life vest (if you want) to help them be able to swim longer. I love this part!

One Dog at a Time

One of the best features of the K9 Aquatic Center (in my opinion) is that they allow only one dog in the pool at a time. This setup ensures that your dog gets undivided attention and doesn’t have to deal with the stress of sharing the pool with other dogs. It’s a calm and controlled environment, perfect for both first-time swimmers and experienced dogs. We were allowed to bring both of our dogs at once if we wanted (we did this once) and I think that’s because they both live in the same house!

Heated Pool

The pool is heated, which is great for dogs of all ages and sizes. The warm water can be particularly beneficial for older dogs or those with joint issues. It’s also nice to know your dog won’t be uncomfortable in cold water.

Variety of Toys

The center provides a variety of toys for your dog to play with during their swim session. Whether your dog loves fetching balls or playing with floating toys, there’s something for every pup. This variety keeps the swim sessions fun and engaging. Judy loves the small, squeaky rubber toys (hilarious because she’s a big dog) and Ted prefers the larger fish. I think they’re easier for him to retrieve!

Flexible Appointments

K9 Aquatic Center offers flexible appointment times, making it easy to fit a swim session into your schedule. Whether you need an early morning or late afternoon slot, they seem to accommodate different needs, which is a big plus.

If you haven’t already guessed, I would recommend this for dogs in the DC/NoVa area over and over again – Judy and Ted are huge fans!
