Looking to up the ante when it comes to your steak salad? Try my Steak Salad With Caramelized Onions and Blue Cheese Chips for your next weeknight meal.
If you know me, you know that one of my biggest goals is to make salads people actually want to eat. Anyone can throw lettuce in a bowl and serve up a salad, but who is that appetizing to? Not many hands raised. To me, a good salad is nourishing, has layers of flavor and texture, and is truly a full meal in itself. As in, when you finish you say…Wow, I would totally have that again. It’s memorable. My Steak Salad With Caramelized Onions and Blue Cheese Chips is no exception — tender steak, crispy lettuce, creamy Burrata, and just the right amount of tang with bleu cheese flavored chips.

The way this salad came together is pretty similar to how my other salads come together: What do I have that will taste good in a single bowl? I had a piece of filet, some onions, a bit of Burrata, and I had just discovered blue cheese chips at Trader Joe’s. I’ve since learned you can buy them all the time at Wegman’s if you have one locally 🙂
Alright, ready to eat?
To make my Steak Salad With Caramelized Onions and Blue Cheese Chips at home, you will need:
1 steak filet, sliced
1 avocado, slice
1/2 cup walnuts (I lightly toasted mine in a bit of butter in a frying pan on the stove)
1 cup blue cheese chips
1 head romaine lettuce, sliced thin
1 yellow onion, caramelized
1. Once you have all of your ingredients assembled, toss the salad well and add your favorite dressing. I used my Creamy Everyday Vinaigrette, but I truly think anything would be delicious on this one!
