We visited Rosewood Miramar Beach in Montecito, California for Labor Day Weekend 2025 and I’m sharing every detail of our stay – including if it’s worth the cost.
If you’re searching for a luxury beachfront hotel in California that truly lives up to the hype, our stay at Rosewood Miramar Beach in Montecito delivered on every level. From the impeccably maintained grounds to standout dining and a spacious, serene Garden Bungalow room, this property feels equal parts upscale and deeply relaxing. Today I’m finally getting around to sharing all the details of our Labor Day weekend stay.

Our Stay At Rosewood Miramar Beach – And If It’s Worth The Cost
Rosewood Miramar Beach sits directly on one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Montecito, with manicured gardens on one side (seriously never even a petal out of place) and the Pacific Ocean on the other. The property feels expansive but never overwhelming, with palm-lined pathways and fountains.

What stood out most to me was how calm everything felt. Even at peak times during a holiday weekend, the resort never felt chaotic or crowded. Service was attentive without being intrusive, and every interaction from check-in to housekeeping felt thoughtful and thorough. Any possible request you could think of: handled. I forgot my contact solution and within minutes, the concierge was bringing me individual daily solution packets to use and asking if it was a suitable brand. The beachfront location is a major highlight, but the grounds themselves are just breathtaking.
One thing to note about the beach is that it has quite a bit of tar (Rosewood provides wipes for your feet), but be careful if it gets on clothes and/or shoes…it does not come out easily.

Room Review: Garden Bungalow Room
We stayed in a Garden Bungalow Room, and it exceeded our expectations in both size and comfort. The suite felt more like a private retreat than a standard hotel room, and even though it was connected to other rooms via a hallway, we never heard our neighbors once.
The room was spacious and beautifully designed, with neutral tones and large double doors that brought in plenty of natural light. The bedroom was equally comfortable, anchored by an incredibly cozy bed that made it hard to get up in the mornings. Our garden view overlooked the hotel’s perfectly maintained greenery (which seriously – I still cannot get over how not even one branch or flower was out of place the entire stay?!), which made the private patio feel peaceful and secluded. While it wasn’t an ocean view, I never felt like we were missing out…the garden setting was quiet, elegant, and ideal for morning coffee, or just sitting outside with a book in the late afternoon.
The bathroom deserves its own mention: oversized, spa-like, and stocked with luxe amenities. A deep soaking tub, separate shower, and generous vanity space made it feel like a total treat. Why am I such a sucker for a good bathroom? I will add there was also a huge floor-to-ceiling mirror in our room that I loved.

On-Site Dining: Worth Leaving the Room For
One of the biggest perks of staying at Rosewood Miramar Beach is that you don’t need to leave the property for excellent meals. We did, but that’s for another post (Montecito has great restaurants…!).
What we enjoyed the most was the pool-side food we ordered every day – lots of “girl dinner” type fare, like french fries, hamburgers, chicken tenders, and salads. But they tasted so fresh. Maybe those are the cocktails talking (those are delicious too).
Caruso’s, the oceanfront Italian restaurant, is the crown jewel of the property, but it was fully booked during our stay. Next time! The menu focuses on seasonal, coastal Italian cuisine, and I imagine it’s delicious.
We also loved grabbing late-night cocktails from The Manor Bar, which doubles as a cozy café in the mornings and a sophisticated cocktail bar later in the day. Having multiple dining options on-site made the stay feel seamless and stress-free.

Amenities and Atmosphere
The adult pool area is stunning, with attentive staff and comfortable loungers, but get there early, because spots fill up very fast. The family pool has the most beautiful yellow umbrellas and the way the sun hits them in the morning is beautiful – it’s worth stopping in just to see it. The spa and outdoor fitness facilities are equally impressive, though even if you never book a treatment, the property itself feels restorative. Everything at Rosewood Miramar Beach is designed to make you slow down, whether that’s sitting on the expansive lawn with a cocktail, taking a sunset walk along the beach or through the garden paths, sitting and listening to the train that cuts through the property, or simply enjoying the quiet luxury of your room.

Final Thoughts: Is Rosewood Miramar Beach Worth It?
In short: yes. Rosewood Miramar Beach is one of those rare hotels that feels truly special without trying too hard. The combination of a beautiful beachfront location, spacious and thoughtfully designed rooms, excellent dining, and consistently high-level service makes it a standout in Montecito. I don’t say this lightly, because we have stayed at many luxury properties – it might be the nicest hotel we’ve ever visited.
If you’re planning a romantic getaway, a celebratory trip, or simply want to experience one of the best luxury hotels on the California coast, this is a stay I can confidently recommend and one I’d happily book again.
