Happy Monday, everyone! It’s hard to believe that we are already celebrating Mother’s Day this Sunday. It kind of seems like we were just ringing in the New Year and here we are – May!! In any case, I wanted to put together a post that celebrated one of life’s most unsung heroes – moms. I’m not a mom (though I have an amazing one!), but so many of my friends are, so I thought – how fun would it be to round them up and ask them what they really want for Mother’s Day this year?! I opened up a discussion and told them nothing was off limits, but to simply answer the prompt “This Mother’s Day, the best gift would be…” It could be material, a dream vacation, two days worth of sleep…whatever they wanted! Today, I’m sharing their lighthearted and beautiful responses as a celebration to moms everywhere.
What Moms Really Want For Mother’s Day
The first person I asked was my own mom 🙂 She said “I think all moms want for their kids to be happy in life. But this year, I would love to get away for a weekend together just you and me.”
Erica from Whimsical September “This Mother’s Day, the best gift would be a big, comfy sectional from Pottery Barn all set up in my living room. We bought a new house recently, and I’ve been dying for a new couch to snuggle up and hang out with my girls. Our favorite place to be is on the couch reading books, watching movies, and playing/talking, so this year I would consider this the best (albeit quite materialistic!) Mother’s Day gift!”
Sarah from Total Basset Case “I would like lunch outside at a yummy restaurant with Mister and Little Mister and a trip to the zoo. Also a nap and a pedicure ;)”
Kelsey from Pardon My French “This Mother’s Day, the best gift would be…..a week without treatment. Mother’s Day happens to fall on my birthday this year, and this time last year I had no idea that a week after my birthday I would find a lump in my breast. Clearly, it changed everything for my family, so this year I just want a day (or a week) where I can just be home with my family. No interruptions. I’d also take a trip to the Bahamas if anyone has one of those laying around!”
Heather from Balanced Life Aloha “This Mother’s Day, I would LOVE a day at the Moana Lani Spa at the Moana Surfrider Hotel!”
Andrea from Salty Canary “8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. And this adorable Breakfast at Tiffany’s eye mask.”
Jen from Marathons + Dog Tags “This Mother’s Day, the best gift would be…spending the day with my husband and daughter. We don’t have to do anything special just being together is more than I could ever ask for.”
Nadine from Nadine Rebecca “If I’m being totally honest, what I’d love is a massage. But here’s the key – I’d love it if it was already scheduled for me with childcare arrangements made. So if my husband books it, I’d love to know that he’s already made plans to work from home that day and watch our little one. If left to schedule it myself and coordinate childcare, I’ll keep putting it off. If I were to select an actual gift, I’d love a bottle of the Gucci Bloom perfume. It’s a newer fragrance of theirs and it’s like they got inside my head and made my ideal scent. Smelling pretty while knowing there’s spit up on my shirt would feel like such a luxury!”
Alex from Three Little Ferns “I wouldn’t mind a ladies weekend away like I did one year! In all honesty though, it would be great to have my husband back from his military training. I’m thankful to have my mom here and be able to spend this weekend with her.”
Fran from 259West “This Mother’s Day, the best gift would be a spa weekend. Just some time to get pampered with a mani/pedi, a massage, and a night a nice hotel where I can get a full night of sleep haha. Second best would be a new sewing machine because mine is on its last leg and that’s how I destress these days – sewing!”
Katie from Life With A Dash of Whimsy “This Mother’s Day, the best gift would be 12 straight hours of sleep and for my 7 month old Caroline to take a bottle so I could spend a full day at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel with my husband. We’d have a big brunch, spend a few hours at the spa, and then spend the rest of the day on the beach with umbrella drinks in hand.”
Anne from Anne In Residence “AÂ peanut butter cup Blizzard + an early bedtime for my kid (so I don’t have to share!)”
