Sharing my honest opinion of the Free People Quilted Carryall, also known as the viral puffer bag from Free People Movement!
Is it me or did the Free People Quilted Carryall go viral overnight? I saw nonstop videos about it last summer on social media and so right before Thanksgiving, I took the plunge and ordered one. I picked a Kelly Green color (more on the color selections later) and have been using it ever since. As someone who values both style and functionality in my everyday accessories, I’m ready to spill all the details on the bag the TikTok girlies rave about. If you’ve been curious about the puffer bag from Free People, today’s post is for you!
My Honest Free People Quilted Carryall Review
Before we get started I need to say that every single time I wear this bag – without fail – someone compliments it or asks about it. I’m not sure if it’s the bright green color or it’s size, but I have not left the house once while wearing it without someone (in restaurants, stores, my neighborhood, etc) noticing it.
Let’s start with the basics – price and size. The Free People Quilted Carryall Bag is $68 and 1% of all FP Movement sales go to the non-profit Girls Inc.
The bag is a slouchy style “everything bag” that can be used for casually running errands, a trip to the gym, to stash baby/kid items, an overnight trip, and the list goes on. Big enough to be trendy, but also useful when you need it. It measures 17 inches long and 14 inches high and the handle drop is 15 inches, so it’s got some girth. The size is what convinced me to take the plunge on essential the puff coat version of a purse if I’m being honest.
What I Love About The Free People Puff Bag
Quality: One word that comes to mind when describing the quality of this bag is “impressive.” We’ve all purchased a puff coat that tears on the first wear thanks to rubbing against something sharp, catching it on a door handle, etc. That’s not the case with this bag. It’s pretty hearty even though the puff/quilted look seems dainty. The stitching is impeccable, and I would give it a 9/10 for durability.
Color Variety: Free People understands the importance of personal style, and that reflects in the color variety available for the Quilted Carryall Bag. From classic black to trendy pastels and bold statement colors, there’s something for literally everyone. I think when I ordered there were more than 20 different colors available, so if you don’t see a color you love, just keep checking back. It’s constantly restocked with new colors added.
Versatility: The bag transitions seamlessly from errands to work, making it a versatile choice for various occasions. I can fit my camera (with a large lens) and my laptop in there (along with all my normal purse things) without any issue. It’s also just one of those great bags to have in your car that keeps all your stuff organized.
Strap: The strap is not adjustable or removable, so keep that in mind if you like to play around with purse strap lengths. I love that it’s long enough to look OK over my shoulder or slung across my body. It’s made of the same material as the bag, so it’s soft and doesn’t dig into your shoulder.
Zippers: There is a top-zip closure on this bag (I don’t like for my things to be out all willy nilly) as well as an interior pocket with zipper and an exterior pocket with a zipper. All the zippers and pockets!
Cleaning It: It’s super simple to clean. Grab a damp cloth and spot treat. I would also consider potentially sending it to the dry cleaner (or heck maybe in my washing machine on gentle cycle with mild soap) if I truly felt the need. I’ve taken it quite a few places at this point and haven’t felt the need yet.
Is The Free People Carryall Bag Worth It?
If you didn’t gather by now, the Free People Quilted Carryall Bag has earned its place as one of my favorite accessories. It’s a nice blend of style, quality, and functionality, which makes it a standout choice in my closet. As the name indicates, it can quite literally carry it all. A nice bonus for this FP bag in particular is the range of colors it comes in. I will say that if you already have a bag of this size that you love, this one isn’t necessary. I didn’t so it was a nice closet add and I know I’ll get plenty of use out of it.
