Trying to figure out if the viral romper you’ve seen online is worth it? I’m sharing my honest Free People Hot Shot Onesie review.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably seen the Free People Hot Shot Onesie floating around the internet. The one piece boho romper has gone viral several times over and as the temps warm up here on the east coast, it’s ready to be back in regular rotation in my closet. If you’ve been looking at the Hot Shot Onesie trying to decide if it’s something you’d like to add to your own closet, today’s review is for you.
Free People Hot Shot Onesie Review
First and foremost, let’s talk about popularity. Priced at $70, the Free People Hot Shot Onesie isn’t your average loungewear and it’s definitely one of those items I side-eyed for a bit before finally deciding to purchase. It’s a statement piece that has gained a cult following online. While the price tag might seem steep at first glance, the onesie’s popularity speaks volumes about its value and appeal. More on that in a minute…
What sets the Hot Shot Onesie apart is its effortlessly chic design. Made from a soft and breathable cotton blend, it strikes the perfect balance between comfort and style. The relaxed silhouette drapes beautifully on the body and I like that there are two pockets, one on each side to give a bit of dimension. Whether you’re lounging at home or running errands around town, this onesie exudes an air of casual elegance and I’ve never worn it without getting at least one compliment.
As someone who values both comfort and style, I was pleasantly surprised by how flattering the Hot Shot Onesie is on my body. My best recommendation is to size down. I wear an XS. The shoulder straps are not adjustable, but I didn’t find that to be an issue, and the drop waist might seem weird in photos online but trust me when I tell you…it’s the most comfortable thing I own. It comes in a ton of colors, too. I have the neon coral, which is definitely a louder color option (no shame, I love it), but there are more subdued tones too.
I like to layer mine with the Lululemon Align Sweetheart Bra or Free People Happiness Runs Crop, because I think it looks nice for warmer days. On colder days, I throw a sweater on top. I’ve seen it styled a ton of cute ways though — a turtleneck underneath with sneakers and a leather jacket on top with converse. Truly, so versatile!
But is it worth the price? In my opinion, absolutely. While $70 might seem like a splurge, the cost per wear for me is worth it. I have worn it out with friends, running errands, on my birthday, and this summer it’s going to the beach. Not only is it an effortless style option (literally throw it on and go), but it also washes well and has some versatility.
