I never got a chance to blog about our third trip to Maui while my parents were here, so I figured now was as good a time as any for a recap. For starters, I have a love/hate relationship with Maui. The first time we ever went was for 5 days and it rained every single day. I wish I was kidding, but I’m not. The worst part was that we had decided to spend money on activities versus a hotel, so for the majority of the time we were there we spent our days in a hotel straight out of 1960 that overlooked a used car lot. #funtimes
So that’s the hate part, but the love part is that the second time we visited Maui was to pick up our pup, Judy! What’s not to love about that?! Nothing. It was amazing and the sun was shining.
So, for better or for worse, this trip was going to be the deciding factor. It was so nice to have my parents join us and we had a jam packed two days. We successfully completed the Road to Hana, ate some of the most amazing Thai food I’ve ever tasted and did a bit of whale watching. Whale season is just starting here in Hawaii, so they’re all frolicking out in the plain view! On our third and final day, Maui was getting the worst torrential downpour it had seen in years (per our hotel) and there was threat of closing down the airport (eeek!) so we jetted back to Oahu 10 hours ahead of schedule, missing an entire day of plans 🙁
All in all, this trip was split love/hate, so I guess my relationship status with the island remains.
All of that being said, it was so amazing to be with family, regardless of where we were (or if we were getting soaked by rain!)
