If there’s one thing I absolutely love it’s spending a lazy weekend exploring a new place with NO AGENDA. When I have time constraints on any given activity, I become a ball of nerves about being late and can’t enjoy the experience. TELL ME I’M NOT ALONE HERE! In any case, one day while Dane and I were out he told me that there was a place he saw earlier that week and wanted to take me. I’m not going to lie, when we pulled up I was less than impressed, but my smug looked was smacked off my face as soon as I walked through the doors of the Waialua Sugar Mill.
Instantly, I smelled the sweet aroma of coffee (a must-have in Hawaii) and chocolates. What more could a girl want? The entire place was stacked with Hawaiian-made goodies and I was poking around like a kid in a candy store. The owner offered us a free tour of the cacao harvesting center and the history of the sugar mill. I have to admit, I was really impressed!
We had Judy with us and the owner loved her so much, he gave her a free bag of locally made treats. A total win in her book!
If you are visiting Oahu, or even if you live here, visiting the Waialua Sugar Mill is a MUST.
