On our trip to Tahiti, I had so many of you ask about my favorite article of clothing..jumpsuits! Well – and rompers, too 🙂 I’ve actually had this post in my drafts for awhile, because here and there I’ll get some questions about my favorite places to shop for this particular article of clothing. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – there’s nothing I love more than a good one-piece clothing item. It’s an entire outfit and unlike a dress, I never have to wonder if my thighs are going to rub together. So today I’m diving into the wild world of onesies and sharing my favorite places to buy jumpsuits + rompers. Let’s get started…
My Favorite Places To Buy Jumpsuits + Rompers
I’ll be honest – I have no clue when or where my obsession with one pieces began. My mom has always given me the side eye on them when I send her links, but then she’s usually impressed with how they look on, so I surely did not get this trait from her! I’m 5’4″ with a muscular body, so I don’t generally fit the long and lean body type that a lot of rompers and jumpsuits are built for, which sometimes makes purchasing them hit or miss. That said, it’s a gamble I’m always willing to take. So let’s chat shopping options, shall we?
For Dressy Occasions
For dressier jumpsuits or rompers, Lulu’s and Nordstrom are can’t miss stops. The strapless navy jumpsuit I wore for my best friend’s wedding rehearsal (from Lulu’s) was a huge hit and is SO COMFORTABLE! I paired it with a nice pair of nude heels and I definitely plan on recycling it for other events. It was snug in all the right places and loose in the places that required it! I will say that Lulu’s has a great selection of rompers, too, but I’ve only had luck with their jumpsuits!
Nordstrom has some great options, too and I have a v-neck black jumpsuit from there that I’ve worn for years. The details are hard to see in this photo, but it’s a very basic black jumpsuit that blouses slightly at the top and can be dressed up or down. It fits well (loose in the crotch!) and has straight legs with little to no flair. I typically pair it with the open sandals you see me holding in the photo, but I think it looks really good with flat sandals, too 🙂 Nordstrom’s selection of basic black jumpsuits and rompers is probably the best I’ve seen. You can shop them here.
Not every occasion is a dressy one and for that you need something a little bit more casual. My favorite style of jumpsuit is a good culotte where it doesn’t go all the way to the ground and flares out a little bit just above the ankles. The best part? They’re usually baggy and flowy. See also: YOU CANNOT LOOK BAD! Trust me on this one – they are the perfect outfit for any sort of holiday meal. Okay so let’s talk where you can get your hands on some.
For Casual Occasions
Here in Hawaii, nearly everything is a casual occasion. In nearly 6 years, I’ve pulled out heels about 4 times total. Wedges, yes. Heels, rarely. That said – I have a ton of casual options for rompers and jumpsuits. It’s my go-to for running errands, a date with girlfriends, a beach cover up, and the list goes on and on…My absolute favorite rompers are from small boutique stores on island like Eden In Love and Gillia – they ship so check them out! The rompers I wear the most often are from a place I think you might know about. It’s called AMAZON. Wait – did she just say she orders her clothes from Amazon? YOU BET YOUR ASS I DID! People, Amazon is an untapped mecca of rompers and jumpsuits at prices that will shock you. I will warn you – it’s hit or miss. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t, but Amazon makes returns so simple that sampling ones I see that I love is a no-freaking-brainer. My favorites are here.
I hope this post has been helpful for all of you who have sent me messages and comments about my (seemingly never-ending) wardrobe of one pieces. Let me know if I missed one of your favorite places! Check out more of my articles on clothing and fashion!
