A few weeks ago, Dane and I returned from our 5th trip to one of our favorite neighboring islands – Maui! I know what many of you are probably thinking – Kait, you already live on an island. Yes, yes I do! But you see – one of the greatest things about Hawaii is that each island in the chain is so incredibly unique. We love visiting each one for different reasons. Two things we love about Maui – whales + quaint cafes/eateries. We cannot get enough! If you’ve ever seen a trip recap (to any place!) you understand that we are adept at seeking out food and beverage..haha! In any case, my post on Must Visit Oahu Coffee Shops has been popular for a few years and I’ve gotten requests for Maui hotspots, so that’s what we are getting into today. There is a pretty obvious frontrunner in terms of towns we adore (3 of the below are in the same town!), but there is a good assortment in this list of delicious venues to grab a brew. So whether you are planning a Maui trip of your own or just looking to daydream a bit about Hawaiian coffee, today’s post is for you! After much taste testing (I didn’t hate that part ;))….my 5 must visit coffee shops on Maui. Let’s get started!
5 Must Visit Coffee Shops On Maui
Bad Ass Coffee – Lahaina
We first visited this funny little shop (they have more than coffee!) with my parents all the way back in 2014! We haven’t forgotten how whimsical and fun it was ever since – the ass out front with the tail that “predicts” the weather has been a running joke in our family. They have Badass Speciality blends, Hawaiians blends, decaf, signature blends and more – literally something for everyone at this funny little spot. Be sure to also check out their “punny” Bad Ass Balls collection (chocolate covered mac nuts, coffee beans and more).
Paia Bay Coffee – Paia
Paia is arguably one of my favorite towns in all of Maui. A sleepy beach town, it is chock full of fabulous foodie finds. In terms of coffee, I have more than one favorite. The first is Paia Bay and if you aren’t looking, you might miss it. They offer more than coffee (light bites and delicious breakfast options!), but their espresso macchiato is TO DIE FOR. Seriously people – you need this in your life! And sadly the photo I (thought I) had from our first trip there is nowhere to be found 🙁 You’re just going to have to trust me on this one!
Paia Inn Café – Paia
Another hotspot is the Paia Inn Café. Not only do they have delicious brew, but they have a full menu of AMAZINGLY tasty food + a cute little patio to enjoy it on. Aside from the good coffee + food, the staff is super friendly! Highly recommend ordering the Eggs Florentine and the single espresso!
Kihei Caffe – Kihei
My love for Kihei Caffe runs deep, because their breakfasts are just so amazing. What I didn’t realize was how delish their coffee is, too! Not to mention you can sit right outside and watch the waves. What is better? Also – if you aren’t drooling just by looking at that sweet roll, do yourself a favor and get one to try. Overflowing with mac nuts with a soft center, it’s one of the best sweet breakfast snacks I’ve ever had!
Sip Me – Paia
Truth be told, Sip Me actually has 3 locations on Maui, so you can visit them a couple ways! We enjoy the Paia location, because it’s tucked inside the most adorable little store called “Sea La Vie”. Trust me when I tell you that you’re going to want to go on a shopping binge, particularly anyone who is a fan of vintage or antiques. While you’re waiting for your Nitro Cold Brew, look for some fun stuff to take home! Much of what they stock is made from local artisans 🙂
Have you visited any of these places? What did you think?
