Considering taking the plunge on Peloton’s treadmill? I’m sharing my full Peloton Tread review to help you make the best decision for your fitness journey.
Dane and I traveled home to Pennsylvania for Thanksgiving this year and aside from seeing my family, I also got the joy of testing out my parents’ Peloton Tread. My mom has been talking about her Peloton treadmill for a month now and I couldn’t wait to see what all the fuss was about. Is it that much different or better than a regular treadmill?
I’m a huge fan of my Peloton Bike+, so I was anxious to see how the brand had leveled up on the treadmill.
Peloton Tread Review
Today I’m sharing the good, the bad, and my full thoughts on this trendy workout machine after using it for a full week at my parents. Before I get started I will be honest and say I didn’t understand the hype. It’s a treadmill – how much better could it be than what I ran on at the gym in the before times?
Peloton Tread Size
The first thing I noticed about the Tread was that it’s surprisingly small/compact. Perhaps I haven’t been around modern-day treadmills that often – that last time I ran on one was pre-pandemic at a gym – but I don’t remember them being so sleek.
The total dimensions of Peloton’s Tread are 68” L x 33” W x 62” H. My parents have both their Peloton Bike+ and their treadmill in my childhood bedroom and it works great. There’s plenty of room to spare, even if two people are working out at the same time.
Is The Peloton Tread Worth It?
I eased in with a walk, because the controls of the Tread are a bit different than a standard treadmill and to be honest I was afraid of flying off the back end. Thankfully, the controls are very easy to get used to, and I didn’t fly off, though I would have just had to laugh at myself.
One of my concerns was that the controls would auto-adjust to what the instructor was calling out and I was a little scared I wouldn’t be able to keep up. On the Bike+, you can lock in your controls so that it auto adjusts to the metrics the instructor is calling out, so I had a vision of going into sprints and – once again – flying off the back. I’m here to tell you, that is not the case. The fact that the controls seamlessly roll makes it easy to transition, as well.
Peloton Classes
Another concern I had was that all the classes would be sprints, but there are a ton to choose from, with walks, jogs, runs, and combinations of them. You can also do intervals, and Tread bootcamps, which involve strength training. My favorites have been walk/run combinations.
One thing I think is important to note is that my parents have theirs located on the second floor of their house and in my experience, treadmills are really loud. While Dane ran on it, I went downstairs and while you can hear someone running, it’s not a thunderous booming like you might anticipate.
Peloton Tread Cost
Like all Peloton products, the Tread is an investment. The basics package starts at $2,495, which is about $1,000 more than other brands that are popular (NordicTrack, Hydro, Proform, etc). That said, it can be financed for 0% APR, which is a nice option if you don’t mind having a minimal monthly payment and pay on time (otherwise they get ya!!).
Is the Peloton Tread Worth It?
In my opinion, it is, and that is coming from someone who was completely skeptical of the whole thing. I guess I’m eating my words for the entire Peloton brand, because I was even skeptical of the bike, and we all know how that turned out.
The tread is quiet, easy to use, compact, and the interface is motivating. I like that you have the capability to ride or run/walk under your same Peloton account, as well as do all the strength workouts, and just like the bike, you can also video chat with friends during workouts, which I really love.
Peloton Discount Code
If you’re interested in one yourself, you can get $100 towards bike accessories using my referral code which I’m happy to email to you directly if you want it. In full disclosure, when you use my code I get a gift card to buy gear and OKAY OKAY, YOU CAUGHT ME….we love Peloton apparel and would use it for more gear.
I guess this would not be a full Peloton Tread review without disclosing that Dane and I loved it so much, we ordered one for ourselves during the Black Friday sale. I’m definitely looking forward to running on my own in the new year!
