This weekend, our little 9 pound bundle of joy arrived. A perfect 10 week old Chocolate Lab named Judy, which made it perfectly acceptable to immediately begin singing “I found you, Miss New Judy. Throw a ball and bring it back to me…”. (If you’re wondering, yes we did make up lyrics for the entire song.)
Yes, we went there, but I mean honestly–LOOK AT THAT FACE!
So, I guess you’re wondering what happening to the sweet black girl we were supposed to get, huh? What happened was there was a bit of a mishap with our breeder that I don’t have time or patience to get into at this point–so we had our pick of a chocolate litter, that I might add worked out in our favor much better. She is perfect and so sweet, but I’m just a tad bit biased.
And our “birth story” goes a little something like this. Early Saturday morning we jumped on a plane from Honolulu to Maui to pick up our sweet girl. I didn’t sleep a wink the night before and all I could think about was–what if we get there and it’s a trick?! After all, we had to get on a plane for all of this to go down. It’s not like we were hopping in the car and heading out to the farm to pick out a puppy.
Needless to say that everything worked out 100% in our favor. We got to Maui, met our breeder, met the parent dogs and then saw this sweet, playful chocolate lady. Our hearts immediately grew 6 sizes. We had about 3 hours to kill before our flight back to Oahu, so we made the most of our time and played in a field to tire out the babe.
She was a huge fan of our Starbuck’s cups and WAS NOT a huge fan of this modified cat carry case she had to travel in.
A short 23 minutes later, we were back on our home island and the rest is history. I have to admit, I have missed having a dog in my life something FIERCE and this weekend has been one of the happiest of my life. Getting to share this fun new adventure with Dane has been so special–seeing the two of them together just melts my heart.
We are loving life as a family of 3 and you can follow all our adventures here or here.
