Our Experience at Oeno Winemaking

Hawaii, Oahu, Travel · September 23, 2014 · 10 Comments

This summer, Dane and I went to a wine tasting at Oeno Winemaking here in Hawaii and had THE BEST time! Seriously, the owners were so friendly and accommodating–the type of atmosphere where you’d want to go and hang out for hours just chatting, sipping and snacking. We had purchased a tasting on Groupon and then decided to bottle our own wine while we were there. Today I’m sharing a little bit more about how it all went down and why I DEFINITELY recommend it 🙂

Our Experience at Oeno Winemaking

Well, fast forward two months and it was time to bottle the barrel of wine we purchased during our tasting! Seriously for all my Hawaii friends, it’s worth every penny! We got to pick what barrel we wanted, design our custom labels and then see the packaging process from start to finish. We barreled a Chianti and a Spanish Temperanillo–both very bold reds with delicious flavor.

The bottling process was really easy (it’s all done right in Oeno’s tasting space!) and the owners make it fun by encouraging you to drink and eat and bottle all at once. As soon as your wine is ready, they email you to let you schedule a time to bottle it all up. It really was the perfect afternoon. We definitely spent a good hour sitting on their couch drinking water before we drove home with our new cases of wine, LOL!
