When you think of Hawaii, you think palm trees, mai tais and endless beaches. Don’t worry, we have plenty of that. But the one that was surprising to me was the rich history and culture this island has to offer. Some of my favorite parts of Oahu have historical value and roots! True fact: I am a huge history nerd. I love the HISTORY channel and one time in college I skipped a party so I could watch an Anne Frank documentary. Not even kidding..
Anyway…
Last weekend, we ventured to Punchbowl National Cemetery. It seems like a kind of weird name, or maybe even something that doesn’t ring any bells to you. It’s considered the Arlington of the Pacific. Ah yes, everyone knows what Arlington is, right? Gosh, I hope so.
It was pouring down rain, but we still managed to see all the cool maps, marble and lookout point over Honolulu.
