Why is the weekend only two days and the work week is five? This is something you can back to me on later. I always have all these grand plans for our weekends and then it comes time to actually put those plans into action and…kerplunk. That is the sound of my ass hitting the sofa and binging on Netflix.
Sadly…we really didn’t even do that this weekend! Friday night we finally finished hanging the wallpaper in my office (full post on that coming soon – stay tuned!) and that took much long than we had anticipated. By the time it was all said and done there was no time for happy hour or even dinner. We ate leftover roasted vegetables, got in bed and vowed to take on Saturday by storm. We woke up SUPER early for a Saturday (that’s 5:15 if anyone was wondering) and got down to work. I finished cleaning up my office while Dane fed the dogs and let them out. We threw on our workout clothes and headed to the gym before anyone else could get their smelly selves in there. Am I alone in thinking that I actually get a better workout when Dane is there beside me? We don’t even chat that much, but I definitely push myself. Anyway, from there we came home, made some breakfast and had coffee and mapped out our day. We had a wedding to go to at night, but a shit load of to-dos. We decided to divide and conquer to tackle our list which worked out great — AND I had time for a manicure. #winning
The wedding Saturday night was the most adorable thing you might imagine. They are the first friends we met when we moved to Hawaii and we couldn’t be happier to have helped them celebrate. They had an intimate wedding at their family residence tucked high in the hills of Hawaii, but once inside, the entire back end of their house opened up (I kid you not – the house has 3 walls, the 4th is a big glass sliding door) that overlooks the entire island. Pictures can’t really do it justice, but I tried!
Details I didn’t hate: a made to order sushi station, an assortment of pastries from some of the best bakeries on the island, passing out cocktails right before the ceremony & discovering Dane busted out his hula girl socks when I glanced over during the first dance.
My friend Marissa is leaving Hawaii in a couple weeks, so on Sunday I hosted a small brunch for her and per her request, whipped up some french toast casserole.
