Do you ever scroll through the photos on your phone when you’re waiting for something or somewhere and think – wow, I didn’t even remember that! And then you sort of smile at the memory? Maybe I’m the only one guilty of doing this, but I constantly find myself scrolling through old photos on my iPhone and realizing that so much of my life doesn’t often make an appearance around here, so today I’m sharing a little glimpse of life lately via my iPhone. Get ready for a mega photo dump!
Life Lately Via My iPhone
I like to photograph all my recipes in one area of our home that seems to get the best lighting, but it means that I have two furry assistants sniffing at my feet to make sure I don’t drop anything. On this particular day, I was thankful to have Bill as my quality control manager right at my feet. Sorry bud, I don’t think you like curry!
We don’t really like to have the dogs on our bed, but they’ve been getting a free pass here and there with Dane being away. Ever since Judy was a puppy, she has loved jumping up on the bed and giving “hugs and snugs” to whoever is laying in it. She wraps her paws around your shoulders and snuggles her face deep into your neck. It’s one of my very favorite things, because she’s (overall) not a hugely affectionate pup. See also: she will not snuggle with you and if you try to pet her she backs away. Gotta take all the love I can get from my girl!
The other night, I met my friend Jenny for happy hour at a local bar and one of my very favorite things about Hawaii bars is that you are almost always guaranteed to get a flower in your drink. It just makes things seem prettier, doesn’t it?
I was out for my daily run/jog/walk (I can’t remember what I was doing at this point) and spotted this bright magenta patch on the otherwise drab asphalt. I don’t know if it’s chalk or spray paint, but the brightness and cheery color made me smile.
Ever since I discovered the app “Think Dirty”, I’ve been kind of neurotic about checking products and seeing what their rating is. When I first discovered it, I realized that basically everything I was using on my body and in my house was going to kill me. Honestly, it was overwhelming and in my head, I was going to have to spend a million dollars to start using things that were more natural. I was so excited when I was in Target last week to see this whole section dedicated to natural beauty and products that are clean. I’m still working my way into a cleaner lifestyle, but this was refreshing to see!
My friend Linsey posted this on her story and I couldn’t help but be like…hell YES! It totally inspired me.
I finally got to try jackfruit! I’ve been reading for over a year how jackfruit, when prepared correctly, can emulate the flavors of pulled pork or taco meat. I was super curious, but I’ve never been able to find it. When I saw it on the menu at Whole Foods in their burrito bowls, I jumped at the chance. First of all – it’s absolutely delicious and I really loved the addition to my burrito bowl. But as a former meat eater, you’re not going to fool any meat lovers with this one. That said, I would 100% eat it again and maybe even attempt to prepare it myself!
I shared this on my Facebook page and I was happy to see that everyone was just as shocked as I was when I first read it. How old were you when you found this out? Because I am today years old!!
Back at Whole Foods for a dinner date with me, myself and I. I know this is kind of weird, but I had never gone out to dinner by myself. I recognize that going to Whole Foods is hardly the same as going to a fancy restaurant, but I had a server, menu, etc so I’m still counting this. I had a lot of feelings on the matter, namely that every dang person seemed to stare at me for ordering two sushi rolls and not sharing them. Whatever.
My friend Megan tweeted this the other day and I couldn’t help but literally laugh out loud. Too freaking funny on the potato comment!
My friend Tara was visiting from Maui last week and I was able to pick her up from the airport so we could share breakfast together before she had to go to some meetings here on Oahu. It was such a great way to start my day – I only wish she lived closer. We enjoyed avo toast and cappucinos from ARVO, which is absolutely one of the cutest places to grab a quick bite.
I was on a little hike the other day and noticed that my Hydro Flask was matching the water down below. I couldn’t resist snapping a quick photo! Kind of cool right?
I love Facebook memories so much, because they always bring back photos you forgot even existed. I’m about to blow your mind for a second – but the only numerical difference between these photos is 2 years. I weigh the exact same, but I’ve lost so much…Most significantly the idea that the number on the scale is any representation of the type of person you are. In fact, I think I’ve gained more…Confidence, knowledge and muscle to be specific! When I committed to getting serious about diet + exercise 2 years ago, my goal wasn’t to look better, it was to feel better. I worked with a nutritionist to figure out what my body needed and started doing something that always scared me…weightlifting! The journey to a healthier life isn’t always easy or fun, but it has been so incredibly rewarding.
Before I enjoyed my Whole Foods sushi date with myself, I was drawn to the flower section and loved the color of these roses. I’m not necessarily a roses kind of gal, but I loved how cheery this color was and couldn’t help snapping a quick pic!
