While we were in Pennsylvania, Dane and I had the opportunity to head up to State College for the Penn State Homecoming football game. We didn’t plan to go home to PA over PSU Homecoming, it just sort of worked out that way, but it was such a special treat! To make things even better, both my cousins (who are really more like siblings since we all grew up together) were there with their spouses. Since we are all PSU grads, but graduated at different times, we have different memories of college and it was fun to sort of re-live it all on game day.
Penn State Homecoming 2019
Since I don’t get back to Penn State as often as I’d like, Dane and I did a whirlwind campus tour before the game. Kind of a feat since it started at noon! We hit up the Creamery, the WE ARE sign, visited with a former co-worker from my days of working at Penn State Football and finally landed on my cousins’ tailgate.
Don’t worry, we still made it in the gates on time to see the marching Blue Band (a personal favorite of mine) and settle into our seats.
In true State College fashion, it was in the 30s when we arrived, but warmed up to the upper 50s, which made a supremely awesome day for watching football!
Honestly, being back on campus felt SO GOOD and I’m hopeful that once we move we will be able to go to more games and spend more time with our friends and family.
Thankfully, PSU pulled out a win (barely — it was ugly) to beat Purdue, but I’m so glad we could just be there for once and not watch at 6am from Hawaii 😉
