In need of a virtual tropical vacation? Here is a collection of Hawaii sunrise photos to enjoy!
I can honestly tell you that waking up early in Hawaii never disappoints! There is something that is so calming and beautiful about a Hawaii sunrise that half the time I’m not even thinking about how tired I am. In my dream world, I’ll own a house one day where I can see the horizon from a patio off my bedroom…ah, a girl can dream, right?

One thing that has been keeping my sane during this weird time is waking up early to get a glimpse of the sunrise. To be fair, I love doing this any time I can fit it into my schedule, but right now, it’s been especially soothing. (To be clear: Beaches, parks, and hiking trails have been closed on Oahu on and off, so I’m only venturing out when it’s legal to do so!)
What time is sunrise in Hawaii?
Hawaii sunrise time varies throughout the year! While the Islands don’t participate in daylight savings time, our sunrise and sunset times vary. It’s much earlier in the summer months and later in the winter months, but anytime between 5:50AM and 7AM is a safe bet. The earlier you arrive to watch the sunrise, the better, because that’s when you will see all the best colors!
While the sunrise colors are the obvious draw, I rarely see more than a few people and it allows me to clear my mind and prioritize whatever needs to get done for the day. Plus, when you wake up early, it feels like you can get so much more done! Anyone else feel that way?
In any case, if you’ve been craving a little bit of Hawaiian sunshine or just needed a mental escape today, here are some of my favorite beach sunrise photos from the last few months!
