Trying to figure out where to eat lunch in Hawaii? Today I’m sharing the best Oahu lunch spots and delicious food to try!
Even though Dane and I have lived on Oahu for close to ten years, we still look at each other some days and say…where should we go for lunch?
You could live in Hawaii for a lifetime and still not eat at all of the delicious food options that the Islands have to offer.
If you’re looking for a delicious Oahu lunch, here are some of our favorites places:
Best Oahu Lunch Spots
Monkeypod Kitchen – If you’re out on the west side, Monkeypod Kitchen is a must. The garlic fries and pizza are delicious (I get the Wild Mushroom pizza, minus mushrooms….just trust me!) and I’m salivating just thinking about it. It’s a popular spot, so be prepared to wait. Also, happy hour starts at 3:30PM daily and the cocktails are exceptional!
EARL – There is a Kaimuki and Kakaako location (differing menus, so keep that in mind), but both are exceptional! Grab the avocado toast in Kaimuki or the Turkey Jam in Kakaako. Dane loves their Cubano and Beer Braised Brisket. Be sure to check their Instagram account for specials!
Storto’s – Cash-only sandwich shop in Haleiwa that has to be visited in person to understand just how amazing it is…trust me! The freshest lunch meat, delicious papaya seed dressing, and tons of veggies. It’s strictly cash only and the parking is minimal (4 spots shared with another spot), but it’s worth it. The “full” is easily two portions, but I’ve eaten an entire one myself without hesitation once or twice, and any menu item can be customized. Definitely get the papaya seed dressing and the fresh avocado with sprouts are worth the extra cash!
Farm to Barn – I will say…this is not Dane’s favorite spot, but I really love their beet poké and the location cannot be beat, especially if you are exploring Haleiwa. The fresh juice is really tart (which I love) and there are tons of places to sit.
Aji Limo – This is a food truck across from Shark’s Cove and some of the freshest, most delicious, seafood treats on the island. The parking lot usually has plenty of spots (but be careful about pedestrians darting around). I LOVE their shrimp sandwich!
Kalapawai Cafe – We enjoy eating at the Kailua and Waimanalo locations! The pulled pork sandwich, salads, and fish tacos are TOPS. Definitely get a browned butter chocolate chip cookie to go! They are so huge, but some of the best I’ve ever eaten.
Chubbies Burgers or The Daley – If you’re craving a burger, you cannot go wrong with a burger from either spot. Chubby’s is a food truck located in Kakaako and The Daley is in Chinatown. These are, without a doubt, Dane’s favorite ever, and always paired with fries. Both locations offer fries with fried onions…and they are a MUST!
Best Oahu Poke
I could probably go on and on about lunch spots. There are so many truly delicious food options on Oahu! If you’re looking for good poké, you cannot go wrong with Foodland. Yes, a grocery store! Trust me.
Best Plate Lunch Oahu
‘Plate lunch’ as you may hear or see around Oahu refers to a true plate of lunch – two scoops of rice, macaroni salad, and an entree. It’s a true food tradition in Hawaii and has roots tracing to the traditional Japanese bento box. Dane loves the Kalbi beef plate from the truck at the Kahuku food truck roundup or Ray’s Kiawe chicken plate in Haleiwa (in the Malama Mart parking lot).
Best Oahu Acai Bowls
Sometimes all I want while I’m in the hot sun is a refreshing Açaí bowl. Thankfully, Oahu has no shortage of amazing Açaí bowls. I put together a whole post on the best acai bowls on Oahu!
