Have you been seeing the Italian Sub Salad all over your TikTok? It’s become a favorite in our house and the recipe is so easy!
I’ll be honest, I’ve been getting a lot of recipes off TikTok these days. What can I say – I like a good visual to create meals. One of them is a recipe my mom shared, an Italian Sub Salad. Now, let me be honest and say that I was a little bit apprehensive. Even more honest – we now eat this salad on repeat. It’s easy and delicious, which is the perfect combo. Let’s dive into the Italian Sub Salad recipe!
Italian Sub Salad Recipe
Before I get started, the only truly key part of this salad is the dressing. I’ve tried so many times to make it and it just simply does not taste the same. I use pre-made sub dressing and you can find it on Amazon or in the deli section of some grocery stores (best brands are Boar’s Head or Dietz & Watson!).

I like this salad, because like an Italian sub, you can add or subtract the ingredients you like best. Starting with a base of iceberg lettuce (finely shredded is a must in my opinion!), you can add all the meats and cheeses your heart desires to bring this meal to life.
To make Italian Sub Salad, you will need:
half a head of iceberg lettuce, finely shredded (Iceberg shreds work nicely in the pre-package if you’re short on time)
1 cup mozzarella shreds, or fresh mozzarella cut into smaller pieces
8 slices of provolone cheese, cut into small pieces
handful of pepperoni, sliced
deli ham, chopped into small pieces
1/2 cup red onion or sweet onion, finely sliced
1/2 cup banana peppers, finely chopped
1. In a large bowl, mix all your ingredients together and top with dressing. That’s it!
Seriously, this recipe is so easy and once you have everything chopped, it comes together really quickly. If you plan to eat leftover salad the next day, wait to put the dressing on to maintain the crunch of the lettuce.
