Everything To Know About Getting A Custom Suit In Bangkok

Around the World, Thailand, Travel · July 7, 2015 · 8 Comments

Looking for a custom suit in Bangkok, Thailand? Here’s everything you need to know about getting fitted for a custom suit at Jackie’s Tailor.

So many of you inquired about Dane’s custom suit that I knew I had to create a custom post all it’s own!  Before we even traveled to Thailand (all of our trip recaps here), Dane knew that he wanted to get a suit or two made while he was there. I knew I wanted to play with tigers and elephants. We all have vacation priorities, right? Right. We loved working with Jackie and his team of tailors in Bangkok. They were very professional, precise and their fabric selection was some of the best we saw. Today I’m sharing more information on how you can have a custom suit of your own made while you’re in Bangkok!

Everything You Need To Know About Getting A Custom Suit In Bangkok

Jackie’s Tailor – Custom Suits In Bangkok

The first step was picking the suit and shirt materials. Dane opted for a navy suit with a subtle pinstripe. It’s so subtle I didn’t even realize it was striped at first glance! With his suit, he got three tailored shirts, two pairs of pants and a custom silk lining. We thought this was so cool, because neither of us had ever done anything custom before.

The second step was for Dane to get measured. They did this so quickly! You could tell that Jackie has been doing this for many, many years. His two sons were also there and not that it should shock anyone, but they all had on perfectly fitted pants.

The third step was to come back later that evening for the first suit fitting. Yep, three hours after we picked fabric, the first fitting happened. I’m not kidding–these guys work FAST! They made adjustments here and there, made notes of it and then sent us on our merry way.

Had we been staying in Bangkok longer on the front end of our trip, the suit would have been ready in 3 days! Because we were headed to other parts of Thailand, we asked if we could have it delivered to our hotel on the back end of the trip. At Dane’s final fitting, we both held our breath — what if this suit doesn’t fit?! Thankfully, it looked SO GOOD that neither of us even questioned it for a minute.

We are headed to a couple of weddings this summer and I can’t wait to see him wear it. If you’re ever able to travel to Bangkok, I highly recommend getting a custom tailored suit!

2023 Update: We have since ordered more than a dozen additional custom clothing items from Jackie’s. Not only do they keep your measurements on file at their store, Aman (who works for Jackie’s) visits major U.S. cities frequently. We have loved every single item delivered from this company and the attention to detail is excellent, as is the selection of fabrics.
