I know what you’re thinking…what the heck is bacon jam?! I had the same thoughts, quite honestly. Today I’m sharing all the details on this easy and delicious charcuterie staple!

Easy Bacon Jam
When Dane and I went home to Pennsylvania last week, my mom greeted us with a hot platter of fresh homemade bacon jam and crostini. I was starving, so I dove right in and my stomach could not have been happier. I was thinking that she bought the product at first (rookie mistake), but was delighted to find out that the bacon jam recipe was homemade, easy and is perfect for parties, to keep in your refrigerator to amp up sandwiches and even to give as a hostess gift with a fresh loaf of bread.
I knew right away I needed to learn how to make bacon jam while I was home. The recipe’s main ingredient bacon, pairs well with the onion, garlic, coffee (yes coffee!) and other ingredients to create a rich, tasty treat that is perfect on fresh bread or crackers. Let’s get started….
How To Make Bacon Jam
A decadent mix of sweet, salty and savory…this jam is exactly what you need to add to your holiday. Really, you just need to add it to your life, because I plan on making it year-round. It helps that it’s super easy and makes your house smell delicious in the process 🙂 So…let’s get down to business.
Bacon & Onion Jam
You Will Need:
2 pounds of bacon
1 large onion, chopped
3-4 garlic cloves, chopped
1 cup strong coffee
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1-2T brown sugar
pepper

1. Cook bacon in a dutch oven on the stove. I use this one and have for many, many years. It’s the best + always goes on sale!
2. Remove bacon from the pot.
3. Pour off all but about 2T of the bacon grease.
4. Add garlic and onion.
5. Cook until onion is translucent.
6. Add remaining ingredients, as well as cooked bacon.
7. Cook on low until most of the liquid has evaporated.
8. Put all contents into a food processor (I used my Vitamix!) and blend to desired consistency.
*It will look a little bit like pulled pork.
9. Serve hot on slices of french bread, on top of a salad, as a soup garnish, with your favorite crackers, alongside a cheese platter….whatever!
I plan on using this recipe for gifts this year in a cute jar paired with a fresh loaf of bread. How would you enjoy your bacon jam?
