Happy Thursday! Anyone else wondering where the heck June went? I feel like my parents were just heading off the island and here we are about to welcome July. This was a whirlwind month for us, but in the very best way. Here’s a peek at life lately courtesy of some really fancy iPhone photos 😉
Life Lately Via My iPhone
I saw this one on Twitter and had to take a screenshot. There has never been something more accurate from the perspective of a freelancer, LOL!
Dane and I were in Waikiki a few weeks ago taking photos for an upcoming project and I could not get over this stunning view. After more than a few rainy days on Oahu, I would gladly welcome the sunshine back!
After our project wrapped, we grabbed some frosé from the Sheraton Waikiki “Edge of Waikiki” bar. You might recognize it from our Sheraton Waikiki staycation, but at the time, their frosé machine was broken. We’ve been meaning to go back and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Wow-ee! So delicious!
My friend Jenny invited me over several weeks ago to do some painting in her garage and we had the BEST time laughing and painting and just genuinely enjoying each other’s company. She was in my sorority in college and we have connected over the years over military life, living in Hawaii and so much more. It’s always a breath of fresh air to hang out with her and we had a really great afternoon of painting using a technique I had never tried before. To be honest, I don’t even remember what it was called, but look how pretty they turned out! I love how mine reflects a lot of the colors in our house and Jenny’s looks like the ocean! Can you tell I was a bit tired in that second photo 😉
The sunsets have been ON FIRE recently and I don’t hate it. This pretty palm is right out my front door, so I snapped a pic with my Brew Dr Kombucha the other night when it was particularly gorgeous!
Dane knows my love of color and mail, so the other day, he told me he had gotten me a special treat. He had pre-ordered me some of the Ellsworth Kelley stamps from USPS! He’s a keeper 🙂
We have been enjoying slow weekends at home with the pups, because we know our schedule is about to get crazy. Here we are all in our car enjoying a Saturday morning drive to get some coffee, exploring the beach, having a lazy morning in the office and enjoying the remnants of an acai bowl.
Have you seen these pizza kits at Costco? I’m kicking myself for not picking one up since I’m sure I’ll never see them again. Isn’t that how that goes? If you’ve tried them, I’d love to know your thoughts!
A friend of mine from college was in town earlier this month with her family and invited Dane and I to an Explorer’s Club meeting her dad was keynoting. It was such an amazing night filled with good people and better conversation. The talk was on rhinoceros conservation in South Africa!
Oahu is filled with amazing spots for exploration, but not all of them are places I would blog about, solely because — over tourism is a real issue here. The secret Mermaid Caves is one such spot, so you won’t see a full dedicated blog post, mostly because sharing the location, how we found it and got there isn’t information I plan to disclose. It’s not a clearly marked spot, but it is legal, hence the ‘secret’. If you’ve ever been there, you understand!
We attended a rosé wine tasting at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel with some friends of ours last Friday night and had so much fun! The wine was delicious and it was great to hang out with our friends and do something out-of-the-box on our normal Friday date night.
I went out to lunch with my friend Caitlin for sushi and I hadn’t enjoyed it in SO LONG that I think it tasted extra good. I ordered an avocado roll and a vegetarian roll and both were exception. Island friends – Doraku is where it’s at!
We were on the North Shore quite a few times this month and managed to snag some good shells each time. Here’s a small sample of my shell haul one Saturday. Maybe not that great to some, but I love the beauty in them!
And that’s a wrap! How have you been? What have you been up to?
