Foodland Hawaii has a brand new market in Kahala with an all-day eatery, Et Al, + today I’m sharing all the details!
Located on Waialae Avenue, across from Kahala Mall, Foodland Hawaii debited Kahala MKT and Et Al at the end of 2020. Dane and I were so excited to check it out and today I’m sharing all the details on what we thought.
Foodland Farms Kahala MKT
Set up like a neighborhood market, Kahala MKT by Foodland is probably one of the nicest grocery stores I’ve been to on Oahu. Designed to be about half the size of a typical Foodland Farms grocery store, Kahala Mkt is easy to navigate and is full of items that are unique to the Foodland brand.
I loved that the entire store is curated…think specially selected natural and organic offerings, Foodland favorites, + Hawaii-grown food, as well as Hawaii-made products. The Hawaii-sourced produce and products were my favorite, I think, solely because there is so much talent here in the Hawaiian Islands and it feels good supporting local.
I also really loved the insane wine and spirits section. I normally buy my alcohol at Costco, because it’s convenient, but if you’re looking for a special bottle, come here! I was really impressed with the selection of wine in particular and there were a lot of bottles that I can usually only special order. WIN!
Now let’s talk food…the best part! Because of the location, Kahala MKT is kind of an in-between spot on the south shore of Oahu. With this in mind, Foodland decided to make sure there are tons of grab-and-go options, as well as pre-cooked meals you can heat up at home. And if you’re familiar with Foodland, you also know it’s the best poké selection on the island! Kahala MKT is no different 😉
Foodland Farms – Et Al
What makes this location even more unique is the attached eatery, Et Al. First and foremost, because it’s attached to the grocer, the parking is excellent. I know this is a hiccup for restaurant-goers in Hawaii, so that is worth pointing out in my opinion!
The inside is set up like a swanky bar in an alcove of the store with several tables and booths surrounding it. Et Al’s design is clean and sleek with a tropical touch (think wood accents).
Dane and I did not hold back on the menu – it’s impressive! – and everything tasted great. The service was quick and the wait staff was friendly. Further, it was really clean!
We started with Short rib arancini and the baby beets salad – both were excellent! The arancini was topped with truffle aioli…yum!
For our mains, Dane got the lobster roll and I got the Hamaku mushroom risotto. We both thought they tasted great!
And, of course, if you know us…OF COURSE we got dessert…the ‘Chocolate PB textures’, with is a combination of chocolate and peanut butter flavors, brownies, and ice cream. It was topped with caramel sauce and it was DELICIOUS; however, I would recommend splitting it!
If you’re local to Oahu, I would definitely check out Kahala MKT and Et Al. If you’re visiting, swing through here for some delicious locally-sourced Hawaii food and treats to sneak into your suitcase 🙂
