Seeing everyone online go wild for Trader Joe’s Brazil Nut Body Butter + Body Wash? Today I’m sharing why…and if it lives up to the hype!
It’s summertime which means Trader Joe’s goodies are in full force. One thing I was so excited to see come back this year was Trader Joe’s Brazil Nut Body Butter. Even better? It debuted alongside a body wash of the same scent. I stocked up when I saw the display in the store, because I knew it would sell out quickly. I’ve been using both products for more than a week, so I decided to share my full review with anyone curious about why people are going nuts (sorry, I had to) over these purple-branded products.
Trader Joe’s Brazil Nut Products
At the holidays, my mom had gotten me a gift set of the body butter and body scrub. I loved both, but they were mini sizes, so when a Trader Joe’s Facebook group posted that the products were coming out again for the summer in full sizes, I immediately raced to the store. The shipment had just arrived!
First things first, yes, the scent is an absolute dupe for Sol de Janeiro’s signature smell. You know my affinity for Bum Bum Cream, so stocking up on a cheaper option was a no-brainer. But what about the quality of the products?
For starters, the scrub, body butter and body wash are all $5.99, a deal compared to Bum Bum’s price of around $45/each.
Trader Joe’s Brazil Nut Body Butter
The texture of the body butter is rich and creamy, and it goes onto the skin very nicely. Upon application, I immediately noticed how deeply hydrating it felt. It absorbed relatively quickly and didn’t leave a greasy residue behind, but I did try to rub it in really well. I applied it at night and woke up to extremely smooth and hydrated skin.
As the name implies, the body butter is much thicker than the Bum Bum Cream and takes a good bit of rubbing in that you don’t have to do with Bum Bum Cream. In my opinion, the Bum Bum Cream scent also sticks around longer than the Trader Joe’s body butter. All of that said, I think it’s a great alternative and one I’d definitely buy again!
Trader Joe’s Brazil Nut Body Wash
Now for the body wash, I started out a little differently and had my mom test it first. In fact, she pumped both the Sol de Janeiro body wash and the Trader Joe’s body wash…and I picked the Trader Joe’s based solely on scent. So that should tell you all you need to know on how good it smells!
When I tried it out on my own, I noticed very few differences. Admittedly, I’m a bar soap gal, but for shaving my legs, I really like something that feels a little luxurious. Both Sol de Janeiro and Trader Joe’s body washes are creamy and lather very well. Not going to lie, this $5.99 body wash is a WINNER and total dupe.
I didn’t stock up on the body scrub during this event, but I can vouch that it’s worth the trip to TJ’s. One thing I will warn you about, though, is that because it comes in a tub and not a pump or bottle, it does dry out pretty quickly (at least in my experience), but for $5.99 I did find it to be just as good as its more-expensive counterpart.
It’s also worth pointing out that this roll out includes a candle. It’s not labeled as Brazil Nut in scent, but it smells exactly the same as the body wash, body scrub and body butter. A total win! I recommend stocking up 🙂 Happy summer shopping!
