After my first home tour post, a large majority of you emailed me saying that you wanted more! Fear not, the rest of the house will be featured–it’s the whole “making it look nice for photos” part that I struggle with π
Anyone who knows me knows that I am a clean freak. I clean every single day–probably because I am neurotic–but also because I’m also a germaphobe. I’m also a clean freak when it comes to aesthetics. I don’t want a bunch of decorations cluttering up a room and a few key details and pieces here and there are enough for me.
Without further ado, here is a our living room.
We are working with a large, open space, so finding wall details was a little bit tricky for us. I LOVE the use of refurbished palettes, but I knew I wasn’t going to pay retail price for them–some over $400 around here!–so Dane and I found one, fixed it up and hung it. #DIYlovers It is not my favorite piece in the whole room!
Judy’s favorite part of the living room is the couch. The center of the couch, to be exact. |
Another thing we struggled with was the coffee table debate. In our old house, we had one and in my opinion, it made our living room look really small. We decided against one this time, using a tray from Target on top of our over-sized ottoman instead. So far, it was the best decision ever. Our dining room is on the other side of our living room so everything kind of meshes together anyhow.
Someone, anyone, please tell me how to get rid of those cords. |
Directly across from our sofa/chair set-up is our TV stand which was a fantastic IKEA find. I love the banana fiber inserts! The tote on the side is from Crate & Barrel & holds all of Judy’s toys for about 3.4 seconds until she gets them all out and dumps the basket over. The vintage surf maps were an Etsy find and no worries, those leis are only there temporarily π
And there you have it–our living room! Now, who’s coming over for coffee this weekend?
