Life Lately Via My iPhone

Whew! I feel as if life has been going a million miles per hour for us, which I typically thrive in, but sometimes I really do appreciate time to breathe, which is why our staycation in Waikiki was so nice last weekend. We were able to just relax and enjoy the beautiful Hawaiian weather and downtown Waikiki. Anyway, I was going through my phone and I feel like between my BFF’s wedding and our trip to Africa, I haven’t really popped in for a life lately update, so let’s get rolling…

Life Lately

Anyone who knows me in real life knows that my taste in music is completely eclectic. Dane and I often joke that I was born in the wrong generation! The one artist I especially love is Selena. Don’t ask me how or why, but I just love her! Now, when I saw this special magazine at Home Depot (of all places?!) and saw that it was dated for my 30th birthday, I knew it must be fate! I left it at the store, but not before I flipped through quite a few pages 🙂

I got these sheets off Amazon in my quest to find the perfect bedsheet (do they exist) and I have been really freaking impressed. I didn’t know what to expect, because half the reviews rave about them and the other part tell me they’re going to look like a dinosaur shredded them after I run them through the wash, but they’ve now been through two washes and two dryer sessions with no issue. We also have two wild chocolate Labs who think it is a game to use our bed as a launch pad for zoomies, so they have survived that, too 🙂 The king set we got comes with a fitted sheet, a flat sheet and two king-sized pillow cases. For less than $50, that’s a STEAL! It’s a nice bonus they come in a wide variety of colors, too. We chose light grey, but if they work out for a few more washes, I’ll be adding white. The brand is California Design Den. 

Dane has been following a new workout regimen that he did before he went to Sapper school and it’s been so energizing to see him get excited about working out that it makes me excited for working out. This time of year, it’s especially easy for me to want to indulge in sweets and snacks and wine and…you see where this is going. Because of that, I feel so much less inclined to get up and out for a sweat sesh, so keeping each other accountable has been such a blessing. Let’s be real, it’s mostly him keeping me accountable, but no need to split hairs 😉 

To go along with my winter eating mood, I’ve also been wearing the most stylish of outfits. Can’t you tell? 😉 My friend Allie and I have this long-running joke about how awful our “at home” outfits can be and I truly have her beat given that I work from home. I snapped this the other morning around 5AM (BARF) before I headed over to my desk. Needless to say, she had a good laugh. 

Dane and I were at Costco a few weeks back and saw they were having a special on these giant diffusers. I had never heard of the brand before, but I figured for the price, I couldn’t pass it up. I loved that it has a sound aspect to it and also (shamelessly) that it changed colors in a soothing manner. I’m an easy sell, okay? It helped that Costco was practically giving the dang thing away and given my adoration of essential oils, it was an immediate yes. We’ve had it for 3 weeks now and I am KICKING MYSELF for not buying more. It has been the best investment for us!

No personal space, party of 2! These two are my absolute world, but dang sometimes I just want to sit and eat my corn chips alone!

I got my beautiful hat from Charlie and Luna Co. and it is so perfect! I’m ecstatic to wear it in NYC later this month, but for now, Judy has enjoyed trying it on a little bit and letting her true feelings for the season bubble up 😉 As far as the hat goes, I love the little heart polka dots and that you can get them customized into any color your heart desires. Good quality, good price, can’t lose…or something like that!
