Nothing beats a beach sunset in Hawaii, but sunset on Oahu in the rain? Check out these colors!
Believe it or not, it’s not always sunny skies and turquoise seas here in Hawaii. In fact, the weather lately has been so moody that planning anything, whether it’s a hike or day at the beach, has felt a little bit impossible.
Dane and I love flying the drone at sunset, but one of my biggest fears is getting caught in a storm. It’s happened to us before, but we’ve always been lucky enough to be flying close to land where we can easily bring the drone back.
We were recently watching sunset on the west side of Oahu when it looked like a storm was about to roll in. The sky started looking very moody with dark purpley, pink clouds and only small flashes of golden yellow. Normally the west side sunset at Electric Beach is really yellow and vibrant, but you can see in these photos how moody the sky looks.
Rainy Oahu Sunset
Because the storm still looked pretty far off, we kept the drone up and watched as the storm rolled in closer and closer. The ocean began getting really rough.
You can see in the photos that the waves were really powering up, and because the shutter speed on our drone isn’t quick enough to capture movement as much as I’d like, the water appears really blurry. I kind of like that though – it’s different from my usual – so I kept some of them.
