Looking for a delicious rice recipe to accompany your next meal? I discovered this easy, creamy butter rice recipe on TikTok!
I love rice. I remember when my mom cooked rice for dinner as a kid and I would load it up with spray butter (remember when that was a thing?), and in college when I would pile it on my plate at the dining halls. When I first graduated college and got my first apartment, heat-and-go rice packets were a go-to for me, because they were easy. Imagine how excited I was when I moved to Hawaii and got served rice for breakfast!
Okay, so now that you fully understand my love of all kinds of rice, I need to introduce you to a delicious butter rice recipe I found on TikTok from Chef Kelsey. She calls it her grandmother’s buttery rice recipe, and let me just tell you this…this qualifies for the top ten of best rice I’ve ever eaten.

Obviously, I saved it to make. I decided to pair it with Half Baked Harvest’s Better Than Snack Bar Chicken Nuggets and her homemade honey mustard. I’m not going to lie, the end result was a little bit like Chicken Katsu, if you’ve ever had it. Wow – it’s so good.
A few things to note: 1. I used Calrose rice, not basmati like she suggests, because that’s all I had. 2. I used half a stick of butter, because I was making cookies and needed the other half for cookie recipe. 3. She calls for 1.5 tbsp of Better Than Bouillon, but I definitely put 2 (or maybe even a little more).
I definitely think that my play on the rice made it a bit creamier, while Chef Kelsey’s definitely appears more fluffy. The flavor is delicious so you really can’t go wrong!
To make the butter rice my way, you will need:
4 oz. of butter
2 cups Calrose rice
2 tbsp Better Than Bouillon Chicken
3 cups water
Butter Rice Recipe
1. In a dutch oven, melt the butter over medium heat.
2. Add in two cups Calrose rice.
3. Stir in the Better Than Bouillon, making sure it evenly coats the rice.
4. Pour in water and stir.
5. Cover the rice and let cook for 15-20 minutes.
6. Enjoy!
This rice is really easy, and has a ton of flavor given that it only has a few ingredients. So worth it, especially if you want a feel-good add on to a meal as fall approaches 🙂
