Considering a pair of Duckfeet Arhus Boots? I’m sharing my honest review after owning these cozy boots for a year.
When it comes to finding the perfect pair of boots, I was coming up short. I have long loved my beloved UGG Tall boots in Chestnut color – and when we thought we were only going to be living in Washington, DC for 12 months I was OK with making them work. But the more time we’ve spent in seasons (see also: snow and sleet), the more I realized I needed a boot with a sturdier sole and something a bit more waterproof. I found the brand Duckfeet on Instagram and it was love at first sight. I landed on the Arhus boots and today I’m sharing my full and honest review. Scroll all the way to the end for a discount code!
My Honest Duckfeet Arhus Boots Review
Let me be the first to say: finding boots that embody both timeless style and enduring comfort can feel like finding a needle in a haystack. Enter Duckfeet Arhus boots—a blend of traditional craftsmanship, sustainable practices, and practical design.
What Are Duckfeet Arhus Boots?
Duckfeet Arhus boots are a style of footwear made by the Danish company Duckfeet. These boots are known for their classic design, high-quality materials, and sustainable craftsmanship. Here are some key features of Duckfeet Arhus boots (they have other styles, but this is the one I loved most!) that convinced me to take the plunge on a pair:
Material: They are made from sturdy pebbled leather, which is naturally tanned without the use of harmful chemicals. The leather is thick and durable, offering both comfort and longevity.
Design: The Arhus boots have a simple, timeless design that emphasizes functionality and practicality. They feature a lace-up style with minimalistic aesthetics.
Soles: The boots have crepe rubber soles, which provide good traction and cushioning. The soles are also replaceable, extending the life of the boots.
Comfort: Duckfeet Arhus boots are designed to conform to the shape of the wearer’s feet over time, offering a personalized fit. They are also unisex and available in various colors.
Sustainability: Duckfeet emphasizes sustainable and eco-friendly practices in their manufacturing process. The boots are handmade, and the company aims to minimize waste and reduce their environmental footprint.
Versatility: These boots are versatile and can be worn in various settings, from casual everyday wear to more rugged outdoor activities. They are designed to be practical and stylish, suitable for different seasons and conditions. I love that you can wear them laced up or turned over.
Duckfeet Boots Review
Straight out of the box, the Duckfeet Arhus boots impressed me with their classic design and high-quality craftsmanship. You can smell the rich leather before you even open the lid and even though you’re not getting the shoe store experience (I love shopping in person!), getting a Duckfeet box in the mail felt special. The packaging is very well done, too.
Duckfeet Sizing, Comfort, and Fit
Based on the brand’s sizing guide (they don’t carry half sizes), I ordered a 39 and I’m a true 8.5 in shoes. They fit perfectly without socks and were pretty snug at first with socks, but I was OK with that, because the leather does stretch and conform to your foot over time.
One of the standout features of the Arhus boots is their comfort. Initially, the leather felt a bit stiff, but after just a few wears, it began to soften and after a year, it has molded perfectly to the shape of my feet. Duckfeet’s design philosophy emphasizes a wide fit, which was a welcome change from the narrow and constrictive styles that dominate the market, especially for someone like me with pronounced bunions. This generous fit, combined with the lack of synthetic lining, means that my feet have room to breathe, reducing the likelihood of blisters or discomfort in the future. Though I will say, any chance of blisters has come and gone and I didn’t even have a period where they felt uncomfortable!
The crepe rubber soles also deserve a mention. They provide excellent traction and cushioning, making the boots suitable for various terrains. Whether I’m walking on city streets, hiking on trails near my house with the dogs, or navigating wet surfaces, the Arhus boots offer reliable grip and stability. The first time I wore mine was in the middle of a freak snow storm this past spring and they were awesome for navigating slippery sidewalks where the sun had melted the snow into slushy ice.
Style and Versatility
The Duckfeet Arhus boots have a versatile style that pairs well with almost any outfit. I’ve worn them with both jeans and leggings, and they never fail to get a compliment. Their minimalist design ensures they remain a staple in my wardrobe for many years to come.
Sustainability and Durability
As someone who values sustainability, I appreciate Duckfeet’s commitment to eco-friendly practices. The leather is sourced responsibly, and the boots are handmade with attention to detail, minimizing waste in the production process. Knowing that the soles can be replaced down the road as needed makes them a clear winner in the versatile boot department.
Are Duckfeet Boots Worth The Cost?
100 times over. Not only because of their quality and made-to-last details, but because they are comfortable, live up to their weatherproof claims, and have become my go-to boot in any kind of weather. I’m already looking forward to fall so I can wear them again! I liked mine so much that Dane also got a pair (they make mens and womens styles, but he chose Arhus, too)!
